austec service

dropped my car in last week after throttle pots stopped a remap... was warned of quite a few things that might need doing on my car.... Picked it up today after a 12k service, 2 throttle pots, MOT and remap.
Oh and nearly £1,200 of my pounds... Still need to do diff mounts
car goes fantastic, thought it was good before, Now 416bhp with 330lbf torque. that's with a ambient temp of 33 0/c so should be higher

Say hello to mine whilst there, it's been in for weeks and I miss it. It's not revving fully out at present stops at 430hp at 6k rpm but seems to be making 10% more torque, hopefully it's something as easy as a loose baffle.

Yellow 4.5 for throttle bodies and fit the 'pansy' brake pads (found the Red ones too extreme for the road)

Do the 4.5's seem to have a lot less power than originally quoted 420bhp from the factory ? as I keep reading that people who have had exhaust systems, re-maps etc... are just about making the quoted figure or even less. I assume would that be due to incorrect valve clearances, throttle pots or is it just that they never made the quoted power output ?

Most 4.5s don't get anywhere near the claimed 420 - more like 330-350. The standard map on the 4.5 can be improved upon quite a lot, both in terms of low throttle manners round town and also performance.

Really !! your joking me, but it just feels so quick, I have noticed with mine when cold its not very good at low speeds until warmed up, who can you recommend for a remap etc.

Your choices are Austec (South), TVR Power (Midlands), Race Proved (North). I've been running with an Austec remap for >4.5 years now without issue, similarly others who've had their cars mapped elsewhere report positive experiences. I even managed ~26mpg on the way back from Scotland on the Tivs and Ribs run two weekends back!

Mine was the blue one outside, just having a bit of fettling!!

What are people's experiences with Austec and remaps,considering decat& remap and wondered how much improvement there was.(4.5 standard)

Personally I've had excellent service and great remap results with Austec

(421.7bhp, just for the record )
