As the title suggests guys and gals. Has anybody done it and is it as bad as it seems because i've had a root around under there (under the dash) and it does seem like it's going to be a pig of a job if i'm honest. Am i missing something plainly obvious or will it just be a headache to do? This is one of those little last-to-do jobs that's on the list after my recent `project`.

It is fiddly as the cable loops around on itself behind the back of the servo before going through the wing. I expect this is to make sure there are no tight turns that would cause the cable to stick. The best advice I got (from Martin at Austec) was to take the clutch reservoir cover off so you can see what's going on.

Matt At Silverstone Performance did mine, so not to sure how fiddly it is. But I do recall a lot of swearing at the time, so I assume it is not very straight forward.

I did mine and it wasn't too bad, took a while but I put a Leven accelerator pedal in at the same time. The pedal end of the cable was a bit of a sod for me, but that was all, your mileage may vary. hehe

Oooooo just realized that i forgot to post up on here. Throttle cable was pretty easy to do chaps to be honest. The big trick is to lay the drivers seat back (or take it out) and get right in there under the dash laying on your back. About 30min start to finish.

BUT i've found a more serious problem now and it rendered the car completely useless until i get it sorted.....i found copious amounts of engine oil in the expansion tank. Engine is coming back out and being sent off to get sorted by the chap that built it (free of charge) by the company up in Blackpool that are making the race cars, their name escapes me at the minute but it's something like DGF Cars.

The joys of Cerbera ownership ! Gotta keep on smiling though..... smile

Oh no!! I had the same problem with my engine!
Oil in the coolant.
Can be caused by missing a seating ring thingy of some sort OR lots of other reasons.
In my car it was due to the heads having been manhandled previously thus meaning the surfaces were not like glass - this is really important on alloy engines. Think my heads appeared to have been prised off using a screw driver or possibly dropped on a rough surface! So Raceproved put lots of hours into refinishing and fixing!

Tell me about it Gazza. I've made a couple of phone calls and have found out that there is a bizarre seal type system that goes on between the oil - water - steering pumps. It uses a ceramic washer type seal that only seals once it's first brought up to operating pressure and sometimes doesn't quite work if it's not correctly placed in there. I did all the correct procedure though before firing the car up so it's something thats not been done/checked their end - THANK GOD ! Phew !!!!!

Gazza on a separate note, everything ok your end with the family?

Hey Nicky not to worry. You have to keep your chin up as if you don't you'll end up letting the smallest of things in life get you down. In short though, life has been absolute c*rap over the last month or two. So much so that i've written off April & May 2010 as a particularly bad year and this going wrong is just a very very minor hindrance on things in general.

Onwards and upwards....

Aha oh yeah the combo pump. I had mine refurbed as part of the rebuild. How do you know that is the cause?
Family ok thanks john. All a bit sore but no one too shakey or bruised. Thank goodness they were in the tank. Motorway crashes are quite horrid.

Presumably they had to skim the heads to fix that Gary? But it's already a red rose... or could they fill in the gouges?

Loads of work was done to heads - no skimming afaik. They had to reprofile, buff etc etc - as well as the knicks to the surface there CR was way way higher than an RR should be oh and the heads were malformed during the casting (so again needed lots of work to rectify).

Glad to hear the family are fine mate.

With regard to the pump assembly, i spoke to Simon the engine builder and Dan Taylor and they both said pretty much the same thing. Dan was fairly sure (95%) that this could be the cause. Simon said that it could well be but, to check this he'll have to loose the timing on the engine anyway so is going to give it all a once over for me from top to bottom.
