Oil Leak Part II

Having managed to get the airbox off, I was wondering if you guys could look at the pictures below and tell me if the oil pressure sender looks leaky to you! I'm only getting a few drops left under the car after parking up, but enough to want to get it sorted! Also, when I took the airbox off, the pipe connected at the back of it (closest to the back of the car) came off and has obviously just been stuck in with sealant before - what's this for and is it important that the seal is airtight?

Yes , I would say it was leaking and you certainly shouldn't have any loose pipes. Time to change it I think. Don't think it's to difficult to do , there was a good thread on here some time ago which had a step by step guide with pictures of how to change it. Perhaps someone will post it up.

Cheers George - I did find the DIY thread and will follow that, thanks. It's just not obvious whether it's leaking or not, as although there's oil around the area I can't really see where it's coming from! Guess I'll just change it and hope!

Dom, wait and see what a few others say first, I'm no expert but there does seem to be a lot of oil in that area. I've check my sender and the are around it is bone dry.

The pipe that has come off goes to the top of the airbox this is for the map (manifold absolute pressure)sensor. the oil pressure sensor looks like an early one wire (crap south african one) get it replaced with the later 2 wire one, oil leak sorted.

Thanks for that guys - I'll get the newer type ordered and fitted! As for the MAP pipe/tube attached to the back of the airbox - does the join to the airbox have to be airtight? It's been poorly sealed in the past, so I'll re-seal it properly ASAP, but is it OK just pushed in (not airtight) for a few days in the mean time?
