My Cerbie is still being worked on up at TVR Power and I've almost forgotten what it's like to drive as it's been gone for weeks!

Anyone got any cunning ways to keep the passion alive whilst the car's away?

Will absense make the heart grow fonder?

I want to get these thoughts of buying something that won't leave me without my daily transport for so long out of my mind ...

Not sure how you can remind yourself, but here's something you won't get in most cars....

I pulled up in front of a country pub recently. I could see through the (closed) front windows of the pub, through the building, and out of the rear windows into the beer garden behind. I revved the engine before turning it off, and everyone in that distant beer garden span round to see what was going on, ending up looking utterly confused as they could barely see the car. Magic.

Even funnier (but possibly something I should get a slap on the wrist for...) there was an ambulance on some dual carriageway near Derby yesterday afternoon - outside lane, lights on, siren blaring, everything pulled over to let it go past "at speed". I came up on it whilst "pressing on"... rather than slam my foot on the brakes, I undertook it doing 50-odd faster than he was. Look on the driver's face was priceless - got a nice grin from him, too.

If that'd been a Porsche/BMW/whatever I doubt it'd have been met with a grin. DON'T SELL!

I'm afraid I'm on your bus at the moment.

Although it's not my daily transport, it's still no fun when it's broken/in the garage/awaiting spares/costing a packet etc....

And then to compound it all I've seen two Nobles in the last two days in my home town.

Fast, noticeable, handbuilt, British....it's only the affordable that needs work. Then again, at the rate the Cerbs going through my bank account.....

I considered both a 964 RS and 964 Turbo II before falling for the Cerbera and it's niggling in the back of my mind.

I know that if I leave the fold I will miss that 'little something extra' that TVR ownership offers but the whole point is I like driving my car and that's what I want to do!

I may find it easier to swallow if it wasn't my everyday car, but I doubt it.

Originally got my Cerb as a weekend toy. When I moved down to Derby I thought I'd "chance it" and bring the Cerb on its own for a week, then go back to pick up the 206. 6 weeks later, and I still haven't bothered going back for the 206. The Cerb has now been promoted to "daily driver & only car". 7,000 miles without any problems (that weren't down to Halfwits) and counting. Sounds like you've just got hit by everything at a bad time. The worst thing to do is hand over all the money then sell it to let someone else enjoy the car in a sorted state.

if it's of comfort you might like to know my colleague has a 4k bill on his desk for a 964 rs rebuild (at 75k miles). I don't think for the mileage that's too bad but it just reinforces that all top sportscars are expensive.

You mean like I did JS?

Seriously, as another 'Cerbera only car' owner (although my wife has a car)
when the problems hit, you do question your faith, but trust me, when it is sorted,
you lose those thoughts and fears.

With TVR Power on the case, you will get back the car you hoped you had.

When it gets really bad....just close your eyes, sit back, imagine you're in the garage just about to start the Cerb.....

That eerie silence like a bated breath and then that V8 explosion as you press the button.

At this point you will be grinning even if you're not in the car.......

Does absence make the heart grow fonder....probably not until you start her again for the first time......then.....well.....nuff said...

Hope she comes back soon.

Just got mine back.

All is well with the world, and the angels are smiling.

Trust me, when it comes back all of your misgivings will disappear.

HOLD ON, keep the faith.

Oh, and you can keep your Nobles too!

Picked mine up on Saturday after being without it for a week which was plenty long enough!

Driving home I had more people open their windows to hear me pass than I care to mention, several small children stopped their parents on the pavement to have a good point, a few car alarms got set off and one youth in his early twenties fell off the pavement.

I did of course take the through towns route home to test the attention grabbing nature of my sports exhaust which had just been de-catted. It grabs attention.

Oh and it's definately faster than M3's...

Cheers

Just had a new sports pipe stuck on my 4.5, and have noted that my mpg has dropped -

must be something to do with driving through every town and village in high 2nd

Oh, and, for the record, 30,000 miles in 21/2 (nearly) troublefree years!

Looks like she'll be coming home this weekend with full 2003 spec cylinder head components (thank you TVR!).

Fingers crossed no more expensive repairs will come my way for sometime as I just want to enjoy the car for a while.

"Next week I shall be mostly be driving just for the hell of it!"
