My Cerbera just departed on the back of a low loader - what a horrible sight it was.

Thankfully, it's not mechanical, it's just off to Ewelme's for the front end repair.
So if anyone sees a Blue Cerbera heading south on the M40 and thinks, "another TVR bites the dust"..
IT'S NOT BROKEN!

It will be back by the end of the week and then I can start to learn to drive with one eye!

Good to hear from you Graham!

I was sad when i watched mine go off on the low loader, and i have the photo to remind me of it just in case i feel like getting depressed (i would post it on PH if ever i learn how to do it right)

Graham - I know exactly what you mean - its not a pretty sight.

I can still hear the sniggers from my neighbours seeing mine being driven away on the back of a flat bed - but its still in tip top condition its just on its way to down the M4 to Peninsula for a service.
Its just cheaper/more convenient for it to be collected than for me to drive it there!

Graham - If it's any consolation I drove my Cerb with one (uncovered) eye for a while. I had a head injury which resulted in constant double vision - both eyes worked but they couldn't quite agree - so I wore a patch to stop them arguing. Your brain figures out alternative ways of judging speed and distance but it takes a while so in the mean time take lots of care. I informed the DVLA and they were fine after I filled in some forms.
Driving with a patch seemed to frighten other drivers, as well as prompting interminable Long John Silver references...

Thanks for the advice Mark.

It was mentioned before about if anyone should be notified or if was legal, but there was no definitive answer.

What forms did the DVLA ask you to fill out and what about your insurance company, what did they say?

I don't have the forms around at the moment so I can't give you the serial numbers but if you phone the Medical Group at DVLA (see www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers/dmed1.htm#5) they will send them out to you.
There was an initial questionaire about the type of problem I had and then they checked with one or two of the consultants to get their confirmation.

Eventually I got a letter telling me I could drive as long as I "controlled my condition" or some such, i.e wore a patch. I've since recovered so I informed DVLA again and everything is back to normal.

I thought I had replied to this link. It is perfectly allowable to drive a car with one eye. You have to inform DVLA who will send you a questionaire. Your doctor will then get a letter asking him for more detail.

Assuming one eye is not going to cause blackouts/loss of control etc they then settle down. I have a few patients with monocular vision driving.

Thanks folks, I'll speak to the DVLA tomorrow and follow it up with the insurance company.

I want to be ready for when the car returns in a few days!

Hi Darren
I get the car back Friday and I really want to go Sunday, but it will be down to the sight I guess.

The 'rarri boys are indeed coming over to play.

If I do feel up to the drive it will be the lowest speed Cerbera convoy in history.
Could you stomach that?
