Think 8.5 are the Tuscan rears, aren't they? Thought the correct Tuscan-fronts were 8s. I could be wrong, though...
Personally, I run 225/35-ZR18 front, and 245/40-ZR18 rear (both Toyo Proxes). Lots of people run 255/35-ZR18 rear. I prefer my set-up, as the ride quality is better due to the higher profile on the rear, and the handling is largely determined by the front, anyway.

The rims are all the same size, front and rear.
I'm not convinved by that... If you look on tvrgear.co.uk, there's a £20 difference in front & rear prices (for anthracites), and the front/rears are always separate items. Plus there're innumerable stories of people having to shave the arches of their car to get Tuscan rears to fit. I've always heard the "Tuscan fronts all round" advice. That's what I went for and it's all fine & dandy.

JS, I'll take it on advisement, only what I'd heard from a dealer when I enquired... No reason that that might be utter hoop, though!
BTW, where abouts in Derby? I was brought up around there, still get back occasionally...
Just moved down to Derby in January; renting in Oakwood for a few months while I find somewhere nice. (Can't believe how many identical houses there are here) I remember getting loads of conflicting advice over the wheels; even ended up going through a couple of sets of tyres finding the perfect match for my car/driving. Glad I don't have to do it all again; gave up on getting some custom rims done it was getting that complicated getting the right PCD values, etc.
The piccy of your motor looks ace, JS!
What did you settle for on yours, and what rubber? As I said, I am 'in the market' for some more goodies at the mo. I am dead chuffed with my bridgestones, and have heard a fair degree of 'bedding in' needed on toyos (ref badly pranged tuscan on their thread).
I grew up near Belper, schooled in Derby and Long Eaton, before fleeing to Aberdeen, then HM Forces...

Cheers. 2nd hand Tuscan fronts all round - £250. No shaving of arches, spacers, etc. needed. Just a couple of stops on the steering rack at the front.
Tyres are as above - I tried both 35mm and 40mm on both the front and back, and found that this was the closest to my preferred driving style/ride. Might have to wear them out & try something else once the Nitrons go on on Thu (got throught FAR too many sets playing with matching pairs up on the Elise).
I've had them on for the last 6,000 miles now, and haven't noticed any real change in grip over that time. I would like a bit more traction from them, and by all accounts S02PPs/S03s give a *few* percent extra grip. Just couldn't justify the price at the same time as a service, the wheels, sports exhaust, headlight conversion, etc. When I got the car, it had a mixture of Bridgestones, Pirellis, and Goodyears on, so anything was an improvement! I've been looking at a couple of places near Holbrook this last couple of days - some nice country roads (and villages) round that way heading towards Belper, by the look of things.

Fair dincum, will start scouring those classifieds...
If you are looking for a decent road, I can strongly recommend going up A38 to Ripley turn off, left onto A610 towards Belper/matlock, then first right towards Pentrich. This is a belter, follow it for a few miles - look out for the Peacock Inn, a big place on the LHS, turn left just after, and follow all the way into Matlock... bow to the lord of asphalt!!

no idea, to be honest - I am on the lookout for some 18" spiders myself, as long as they aren't an arm and a leg!!!
