Or air flow meter. I am having great trouble sourcing something I can use to balance the engine with. Does anyone know where you can buy one of these from and how much?

I have been searching demon-tweaks as I was told you could buy something there but no luck yet.

Try Halfwits.

Do you have the software then?

Demon Thieves 2002 Professional Motorsport Catalogue (they can still look it up if you phone them)

Page 185 code 98001.000 £43.14 + VAT

Don't bother with online catalogue - it has a fraction of their products. Call them on 01978 664466

This item will is for carbs and services 30mm to 50mm draft.
I thought the Cerb butterfly was bigger than that?

Got this exact one and it is fine for my '97 4.2. Works just as well on throttle bodies as it does on carbs - just measures the airflow through the butterfly.

It is a snug fit and works well, but wouldn't be any good if the throttle bodies were much bigger in diameter. This is the only one I've found available. DT have a good returns policy if it is not suitable.

Julian, if you find that one of the cylinders is out, or a bank of cylinders is not equal, what can you do to correct this?

good question matt.

Natural inclination would be to go and look for the reason why.

In actuality, I'd probably adjust the butterfly.

I don't think there is any adjustment between cylinders of the same bank. Each bank is adjusted by altering the throttle linkage rod.

Matt - did you get the e-mail.

Along the same lines, I have one cylinder that draws more air than the other 7. On looking at the butterfly, someone has played with it in the past as it has different screws. When I asked an expert how to adjust it his answer was 'stick your finger in there and bend it' . Oh and yes DT's online catalog is very limited, bought mine direct on phone from them & it works a treat. I now have a car that starts & ticks over without needing to hold the revs, & (almost) behaves itself.

Simon, e mail received, thanks.

Just re read some of the instructions and my question is answered, amazing what can be learned by taking time to read instructions properly isnt it!!!

Have sent you a reply but e mail on my home PC has been having a tantrum recently, let me know if you have received it.

As for the syncrometer, anyone want to rent me one for a few days or split the cost of a new one with me?
