Radiator leak ?????

I am loosing water, but very very slowly, over months. I topped up and let can run for ages whilst looking for leaks. None found, except that upon cooling down I could hear, very faintly with my improvised stethescope, a faint pssst! sound from the n/s of the top of the rad. I cannot however find the leak, and have not yet removed rad. Do you rckon its a pretty sure bet that the rad is leaking, and time to order a new one???

I'd start off using a bit of washing up liquid on there, testing various areas around where you can hear this noise as the Cerbs (well mine anyway) have metal end caps on the rads which can be re soldered or braised. If your rad is in good condition and you find the leak i'd go down this route personally.
Don't order a new one, not unless you particularly want a nice new rad as these are expensive - if you end up going down that route i'd re-core it at a fraction of the cost.

Refurbished mine a few months back at a cost of £200. Been fine since it was reinstalled.

Can you get a pressure adaptor on your system I know Steve heath does one for the Griff/Chim if so this will help you find out where its leaking from, could just hose or a clip.

It could be leaking form where the core of the radiator meets the end casings, thats what happened to me, although i could hardley see it. got the radiator recored and refurbished.

last year i had some probs. with the temp. it went up to about 105/110. i did not find anything at all. bleeded the system many times but no chnage and did not see any water or leckage
My TVR specialist checked and told me that my radiator had a very very small leak.

So, i would say that if you dont have a temp. problem you problably dont have a radiator problem.
Because my cerb had a very small leackage and temp went already up a lot

i got mine re conned cost me £170 it was leaking

Removed fans and ran engine til hot. Close inspection of rad and I spotted minor weeping. I will get rad out and take it to a rad-man to pressure test and fix. I found a place near guildford who seem ok. They estimated best case 30 quid and worst case 170. My fingers are crossed.

In the worse case it's still a LOT cheaper than a new rad.

Just got it pressure tested, and there are two leaks. Decided to get re cored at £160 plus vat. Hopefully get it back for a weekend run.
