Just bought 1997 Cerbera from julesby. Thanks for your help Jules. Based in Southampton.
Bet you can't guess what colour it is-(hint not blue)
Initial testing indicates that a lot of smiling will be done
One thing I do need help with-does anyone know how to drive these cars at 30mph? Please help or loss of licence is possible. Does driving in reverse help?

Congratulations on your purchase. By all accounts you've got a 'good un'. As for driving at 30mph, if the throttle pots are OK, no movement in the ball joints on the throttle linkage then it shouldn't be a problem.
1st/2nd gear - apply necessary amount of throttle with right foot etc. Driving at over 30 in built up areas is just asking for trouble. Now if you're talking about 60mph on open A roads with good visibility I'm afraid I cannot help. Cerb's labour in 5th at that speed and in any other gear you're tempted to toe it!
Darren.

What problems are you having with low speed driving... drivetrain shunt at REALLY low speeds, or just finding the urge to press the loud pedal? Personally, my car makes a distinctive exhaust note at spot on 2000RPM, which is really useful, as...
2000RPM in 3rd = 30mph
2000RPM in 4th = 40mph
Really good for matching speed limits (just ignore my previous posts about getting a speeding ticket
), and there's not too much torque/engine labouring at those revs Oh, and blue cars drive better at any speed.
Drive carefully...

James,
Do you know the speed per 1000 revs in top.I'm speedo less at the moment and figured 90 = 4k revs ish?

I think I get (a bit under) 50mph @ 2000 RPM in top. So that'd be about 3500-3600RPM at 90. Not that you'd be travelling at that speed.
90 @ 4k can't be quite right, or you'd be at 8000RPM at 180... I'll check it precisely tomorrow for you. What an excuse for a quick blast.

Same size wheels/tyres? If not, could just be the 10% speedo differences...
Probably not, as I'm running 40mm profile tyres on the 18" spiders. But that wouldn't affect the reading unless it's actually being taken from the front wheels (35mm profile). Surely there'll just be a sensor on the diff/rear axle that it's multiplying to get the MPH, though?

It's taken from the rear wheels. I would imagine your speedo will read differently from a car running the standard (I think) 16", 45mm though.

Sounds about right. I'll let you know for sure once I've been on the very same private test track tomorrow.
