AJP Breather

I know this has been done to death judging by the amount of posts on this, but I have another query.

I have an offside oil leak and I strongly suspect it's the usual breather issue.

The air box catch tank thingy appears nice and dry but the pipe where it joins the tube looks drenched and I have a fair old puddle of oil in the F1 cover - even after a gentle 10 mile run.

What concerns me is that someone has put a cable tie 2/3rds up the pipe to restrict it as though they want to stem the oil flow into the air box

I don't suspect too much pressure as the issue as the pipe leaving the engine has its jubilee clip missing and the leak here is minimal.

Anyone seen this before? Can I replace the pipe with normal hose or do I have to go TVR specific?

Interesting about the cable tie, as mine has been given a half twist along its length to similarly restrict the flow.

Unfortunately for you, I don't know how its all supposed to work, so I can't help, but I will be lurking to see how this develops!

I would remove the tie, assuming there's no long-term damage, feed the breather into a 5ltr opaque/clear container, Gaffa tape the whole thing to the F1 panel. I would also run another clear pipe from the air box to another container strapped to the F1 panel as well, to see if its not blowing back through the intake.

Then go and drive it for 20 miles and se what ends up where.
