Does anyone know of a good indie in my area (Leigh-on-Sea, South East Essex area) for any odd tweaks that need doing?

Hi Tim

I'm sure the good people of Mid Essex can help, but CDL Racing and of course
Castle TVR both have good names.

Were you at the meeting Sunday?

Boy this world gets smaller and smaller, Leigh On Sea eh, spent a lot of time
in Hadleigh in my youth and only found out at the weekend that TVRslag lived
there and ....a couple of doors from my grandparents!

Guess we should be looking at a "Joospeed Ltd (South)" then?

Thanks

There was a guy called Mark who had a garage a couple of miles from me (he's since moved on). was looking for something that catered to my extreme laziness (less than 15 minutes)

Leigh & Hadleigh are great, but the roads are terrible - takes ages to get to a decent run
only had the cerb for 10 days and it thinks it's been sold off for driving miss daisy - just sits in traffic getting very hot under the collar (constant 110 temp in traffic) I missed the mid-Essex which was shame, but have been sent all the details so will make an effort for the next one

Will be taking a proper run next week - long weekend in the Wirral

110 is hot (for my Cerb at least). Never seen over 100 (but then I suppose my temperate gauge could be 10 degrees out!).

I thought so too - but goes straight back to 90 once I hit clear roads.... (it has been over 110!)

1. Have you checked to make sure your fans are coming on?
2. When it's in for a service, get it checked to see how far out the temp guage is reading - always worth knowing! For instance, I know that when mine reads 110, it's actually 100.

Jules gave the car a full 6k before I bought it a couple of weeks ago. The fans appear to be working OK (can hear them), but the gauge must be out as the second fan only seems to kick in at about 110 (according to the gauge anyway!!).
I agree - would be a good idea to know how far out it actually is............assuming it is actually out

hi.
if it's not kicking any coolant out then it's ok! .. cerbie like to throw colant out at any opportunity, so if there's no steam / water then you're ok

not uncommon for gauges to be 10 degrees out, and this gets worse as the guage is on it's last legs.

You can reroute the caplilliary piping away from the exhaust which can help in traffic where the underbonnet temp soars, but out on the road the cooling air brings it down to pretty much what it should read anyway.

Cheers Jules,

It was kicking out steam when I first got (refer to my neurotic phone call to you last week ). But this has stopped and think that it was due to volume in the expansion tank - I'll keep an eye on the level (on the seam at the moment).
Next stage is to stop the irritating knocking/tapping sound from the rear left (tapered brake caliper so I am informed)- haven't got a clue how to access that (.... must learn more ). However, if not a problem (i.e. disrupting the brakes etc) I am inclined to leave it - goes away after a while. Again the laziness takes over

BTW - Joospeed Southend - a very good business proposition!!! My neurotic lack of understanding of anything remotely technical is enough to keep you in business on its own

I am assuming the Joospeed South idea is in jest but I think the reality is that this website alone coupled with the TVRCC would probably make it viable!

....and yes, I do live in Essex

Joolz would make a fortune to come down into this neck of the woods.

Born in coller row romford and used to work as a nipper at the romford market so I am more Essex than any of the mid essex bunch of wannabees

But managed to drag myself outta there and develop a north kent sevenoaks accent.

Never lost the need for gawdy cars and my wife to wear white leather miniskirts though. Some things don't come out of the skin no matter how hard you pull.

Nooooooooooooooooo

Joolz should never come down South, he'll dilute his real world values, hike up prices to support the fact that he'll have to spend more time in Bluewater than under a car. He'll get one of those poncey Southern accents and it will all go wrong..

Bloody hell you lot will be asking Peter Wheeler to relocate to Southend next...

He'd probably even end up with the ultimate Essex accessory.....

A Blue Cerbera...

Still if you fancy coming South then come to Cambs then there is a nice garage unit which has just become vacant in my village...How handy.
Even next to a good pub with proper real ale, none of your burger vans..

Hi Tim,

Welcome to the wonderful world of Ceberas! I'm just down the road in Rayleigh ('98 4.2 in pearl green) so I'll look out for you.

Can't help you with local indies unfortunately. I travel down to Fernhurst in Surrey for my service, but I have also used Castle for some of those inbetween jobs.

Incidentally, you haven't by chance got a C*ERB plate and 4.5 wheels have you? I followed a blue one like this from Rayleigh to Leigh on Sat evening?

Cheers,

Neil
