Not sure if this is up-to-date etc:-
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

Personally I dont buy insurance on price - I put the brand and service before price. I am probably paying a couple of hundred more than I need to but for that I have a good 'mainstream' insurer and a no-claims bonus.

Ulitmately though everyones circumstances are different (age, post code, modifications etc) so there is no one size fits all cheapest TVR insurer. I would phone as many as you can be bothered to phone.

Try Mannings and Hagerty, both very very good insurers (both use Allianz), and should be in the lower end of your quotes.

It really is a waste of time asking for recomendations of who is cheap for insurance. There are far too many variables. Just because AXA is the best for me living in the middle of nowhere in Scotland and being an old fart, doesn't mean AXA will be best for a 20 year old living in Toxteth. SHop around but bear in mind that the likes of Tesco will get all confused when you tell them you have upgraded suspension and have fitted an induction kit (And if you don't tell them, then Good luck to you when you come to make a claim).

If it's any help mate, I insured my one for the first time in April through Classic Line. Just filled in the details online, they sent me a quote, gave them a call, 5mins later I was insured. £317....ka-ching!!!!!

I used lancaster insurance. With a 3000 mile limit £270 per year. Suits me fine as I tend to lay the car up for the winter. The policy is with Allianz.

Unfortunately Hagerty will no longer insure post-1980's TVRs (but 1 or 2 seem to have slippied through).

Classic Line in Hinckley are worth a call, mine was about 569 for the 3 with a combined 9k miles and agreed value.

Haggerty for my Cerb last year - nice guys + good price

Haggerty would not re-new so went to Mannings - also thumbs up. Just changed policy over to a Griff - done it over the phone, zero hassle and cover not turned up in the post the next day.

guess you only really find out how good when the worst happens though...

Im 29 and Tesco of all places was the cheapest. I found it on comparethemeerkat.com, got a quote on there then phoned them up and go it cheaper. (I put my mum on there as a named driver for maximum cheapness!)

Thanks guys for your repiles

You ve recomended plenty of companys for me to try

My Cerb only does 1500 miles a year, kept in a locked alarmed garage, and im 38 with 17 years no claims.

So a if can get fully comp with an agreed value for about £300, i ll be happy

Really struggled with quotes this year, post Hagertys withdrawal. Best was Classicline 5000 mile limit with agreed value, £467. Most others are £600 and upwards. Think insurers are recouping their losses! curse

I spoke to a broker who said prices had dropped a bit (TVRs) so some people that maybe can buy but not fully maintain have been buying them (bigger risk) and as the market opens up less experienced etc are also buying them (bigger risk again). Hence, the number of incidents are increasing and the insurers tend to write off earlier raising cost. Bigger risk + higher cost = pain for us!
