Recaro Start 2.0 child seat

Hi all,
Now that my little'un is 11 months old, she's too big to go in the rear facing car seat, so she needs a forward-facing one. The Recaro Start seems to be the way to go (thanks to mikeinsheffield for the demonstration at Chatsworth!) but the original design seems to have been superceded by a version 2.0. I'm a bit worried they might have made it bigger - has anyone tried to fit one of these to a cerb?

yes i'm considering that too, but i prefer the idea of a brand new one (possibility of invisible damage with a 2nd hand one...)

When you go to pick it up, take a good look at the kids. If they're scarred and disfigured then there's a good chance the seat's been in an accident and you can walk away.

Coincidentally, a Recaro rep was at my office today, so I asked him to confirm whether there's any real difference in the sizes. Would be good to hear from anyone who's already got one tho. cheers

I am the proud new owner of a 2003 Cerbera(2 weeks)I rushed out and purchased a Recaro Start 2.0 child seat before taking delivery so I could take the missus and 3 year old daughter out for a spin. Having got the car I found the seat quite large, it forces the passenger seat forward some way as you can see from the photo below. In hind sight I wish I had gone to Halfrauds and tried a few to see which one fitted the best. But having looked at a few since, they all look quite deep and would probably stick out as much.

You can see how far forward the seat is in comparison to mine, although I am 6ft.

Thanks TVRCS. I see what you mean - looks like the base is quite deep. Car looks lovely - post some more pics!

I have a 3½ year old daughter & a 1 year old son. Son sits behind the wife but as mentioned above, her seat has to be pushed well forward because of the size of the M&P child seat - think I'm gonna have to look into something less bulky as his legs grow longer. My daughter sits behind me using only the detachable upright section of her child seat behind her back and her bum pearched on the rear seat. Dunno if it's legal but if I didn't think it was safe, I wouldn't do it!!!

I have a recaro start seat, if anyone wants it they can pm me - its been well used and the cover is a bit worn, but it's sitting in a cupboard gathering dust these days. I guess it is possible to get new covers for these things. The frame is very strong and hasnt been in a crash.
