What Coolant and what Diff oil please?

Hi Guys,

Looking for recommendations for what Diff oil to use? I know that I have to make sure it is 80w 140. I have found a few but would appreciate it if anyone has any specific oil they use and recommend.

Also, is there any reason why I shouldn't use the Long Life (red) coolant instead of the old blue green stuff?

I used the Castrol one from Opie, make sure you get the correct one. If you do search for diff oils you will find a thread where I put a link to the correct one.

I use the red coolant, better quality, especially for use with aluminium.

Hi Kojak, thanks for the reply.

It is interesting that it appears you are using 75w 140 where as my book state 80w 140.

Is your car fitted with the hydratrack and does it specify the different weight?

I was advised by the guy who rebuilt my Diff (Alan Voight) to use...

Yeah its a hydratrak which was rebuilt last year. The oil is very slighty different but this bit won't make any difference. This oil was one of a few advised by Opie.

As mentioned above the morris stuff is good but the Castrol is fine, full synthetic etc.
