I really don't think it matters. Just make sure you buy the right car for you. You can buy the same warranty privatly as the dealer will offer. Make sure that you buy on condition NOT mileage & accept no stories about the cars history.
Good luck

Darren.

speak to james agger - www.jamesagger.com or jamer on PH. That way you wont pay dealer prices but will get the bonuses of a dealer with better service.

Privately with a good independant inspection and the purchase an aftermarket warranty.

Dealers provide a perception of peace of mind and nothing more, added to which I have only ever come across one decent stand up chap and unfortunately he doesnt sell TVR's.

In total agreement.
James is the best in the business and will find the car to suit you.

James doesn't sell pups, just class cars and backs up his service by using the
very best Cerbera experts to check the cars before and after sale if required.

I hope you find the car for you.

I found mine whilst it was on sale or return at a dealer.

I then found out where the owner lived (yes, through very nefarious means), and made contact. The car was on the forecourt for £30k, I paid £9k less.

Got the car inspected by Austech racing, who recommended £2.5k of bits and bobs, including new suspension, new radiator, a few new rose joints, a waxoyl and a service.

I alos purchased a warranty from Austech for £1000 - worth every penny.

I did not trust the dealer as when I went for a test drive I noticed the steering was a bit off - he said it needed balancing - what had actually happened was the front shocks had collapsed/leaky.

It took a bit of time fo rall the work to be done, but I saved myself a few grand.

If you have a PX, then a dealer can sometimes be good.

Agree totally. It's good to see how the owner of a car treats it from cold, what they know about maintenance, etc. and it saves you a bit of money for potentialy repairs. Similarly, it's good to know that you've got a dealer to go back to, shout out, and try to get stuff fixed for free because of the extra money paid. Each has pros & cons, so in the end it should just come down to buying a sorted car. FOR SALE: 1 sorted blue Cerb...

I'm not advertising till I've had a full service done on it by TVR Power next Thursday. I've promised someone first refusal on it next Saturday then.

Oh, and the Nitrons are coming off at the same time as the service... Depending on what I decide to do about a Tuscan/Cerb RR over the next couple of months, you're first in line (but not the only one from the mails I've been getting!) for the Nitrons.

JS, as per my last E-mail, let me know what you want for the car. I'll pick up the email when I get home tonight.

I went the dealer route and have been very happy I did.

I didn't pay that much over the odds when compared to private sales. Added to that I had touch up work done + 12K service (£800 at TVR dealers) all thrown in + warranty.

I have had a few niggles all of which were sorted without question or cost.

Racing Green, Peninsula, HL Gorners all have very good reputations for customer service.

James Agger (jamer on here) is not in the dealer network, but is brilliant, as are Adrian Blyth (apprentice on here).

Isn't it time you stopped asking questions and got yourself out test driving? I love that smiley
