Rebuild Time

Well.......the time i dreaded has arrived earlier than expected - With MOT due i felt it would be a good idea to have a chassis clean up and found my outriggers crumbling. Body off time!!!!!!!

The scary thing is that these holes were filled with silicone sealant! Picture 2 shows the remains of this, whilst picture 1 shows drivers side hole with passengers side equally bodged!

I don't usually hold a grudge but i sincerely hope that the previous owner / 'mechanic' who did this gets strung up.

When I think of some of my antics with the car like this............!!!

A word of advice for potential buyers - take a pair of mole grips and grab the front of the outriggers and pull - i wish i had!

The up side is when its finished It'll be perfect and another cerb saved from scrap!

Going to start stripping in the next week or two. then i'll move on to the car - ha!

Its an S plate - i was hoping to get another year or two out of it before doing this but never mind!

whilst i think of it, when the body comes off, will it rest on the floor or do i need some sort of jig to hold it straight.

Also, windscreen in or out?

I've done a 2cv before - i'm sure i'll be fine!! hmmmmmmmm.........

I've just had a long read through your thread and I have to say that your car looks superb - Really Really Stunning! Congratulations.

I'm based round the m25 a bit in Oxted so you may well be my new best friend! How many Cerb rebuilds can you physically / mentally cope with ???

In all seriousness if you are ever passing this way and fancy popping in to see progress you are more than welcome, albeit I haven't started yet -

To be honest I haven't quite got the courage up to tell the misses the exact detail of works required.....this may slow me up a bit - theres only so many 'tinkering' sessions i can get away with before she notices......

After seeing this I checked my outriggers tonight (with mole grips and a screwdriver) and they seem sound. phew!
