Any criticisms taken kindly, I know I'll regret it, I just can't justify it right now.

Did you finish your development of your own slave cylinder?
Yes, it's in the car now. Been working fine so far. Made the clutch a little lighter by accident too.I've solved that but the 4 bolts aren't nearly good enough to stop the fluid leaking back past the O-ring there, should have been at least 6 bolts so you could distribute the pressure better, but preferably 8 bolts. It can't be solved without creating a new bell housing because of the position of the oilways etc on the BH.
I hope you understand that?
That PX list will only disappoint. I had a P1 between Cerbs back in 2002/3. I was so chav and horrid and slow. Had to get rid.
If I was leaving the cerb community and was after something cheaper then I wouldnt go for something so 'hardcore', it will just feel like a let down. I would go for something that doesnt try and compare eg a Mk5 Golf GTi. Swift and sweet.

So cross that off your list..
What do you want from a car, how much do you want to spend?
D
I saw your thread in GG.
I think you'll regret this. I take your point about driving a car worth £1.5K everyday and leaving 12K at home; it's exactly what I do.
Thing is, if I want to park at a mates in a dodgy area, I take the quattro.
If I want to lug bin bags to the tip, I take the quattro.
If I want to cruise a long distance and waft around, I take the quattro.
When the weather looks good, I fancy bit of amusement and am in the mood, I fire up the Cerb. Everytime I get to it I get excited, it's just quality. I'm hoping it will be even better after a fettle it's going through at the moment (brakes, UJ's, suspension).
When I ran my e46m3 as a daily, I must say I was impressed with it when I walked back, it did look amazing in estoril blue. BUT, the M3 just isn't as cool as a cerb, no way near as fun to drive (very 'easy' in comparison), just not an event & I was petrified when I went anywhere dodgy - in fact, I'd avoid putting myself in those situations - a hack is 'refreshing' - it makes you feel 'free'. I took a mates e46 m3 out recently to see what it felt like now (after elise -> cerb), and although the engine did impress, the suspension, gearbox & steering all felt really wooly. Didn't feel like a sports car at all, all these controls/feedbacks were dumbed down to appeal to the masses.
Upshot is that I have gone in exactly the other direction. One decent car alrounder, to one awesome one (used somewhat sparingly) and one hack. [That said, a audi A4 at £2K isn't that bad of a place to be, it's just not exciting in anyway, so I put the radio on and chill.] - I think the nice car & hack is a better situation to be in.
Look, your problem is you don't appreciate your hack. Just appreciate it for what it is, a means to an end, something disposable / low stress that you can tootle around in and not care if you curb a alloy / get parking dings / lend it to your mate / put 2K miles on it in a weekend. When you realise that the hack is just an a/b machine, designed to allow you to have the car you really want, then you start liking the hack.
A hack is a bit like the gym session you have before gorging yourself on cake. Yes you could just have cake all the time, but cake tastes better when you think you deserve it & besides which, if all you did was eat cake, you'd get real fat. Moreover, to continue the cake analogy to a chocolatly conclusion, you aren't comparing the same cake with itself. You are comparing a hulking serving of warm Tesco's finest chocolate fudge cake (*this is very nice) once a week, after your gym session, to a daily munching of dry swiss roll.
Embrace the gooey fudge goodness. Lick your fingers in delight.... Downshift to second, hear the bangs, punch to the floor, feel it rear up, pin yourself to the seat, upshift to 3rd, snap in the back of your neck, block shift to 5th.... On the brakes, H&T to 3rd, 2nd infact, balance throttle midbend, spot the vanishing point move away, squeeze on. Punch it again, lift of just for bangs, 'cos you can, accelerate hard to horizon once more. Smile. Park it for a week and repeat.
