Puzzling problem and a Dead immobilser

I'm puzzled!! Had the Car running perfectly yesterday. Today I have nothing! The battery is Brand new, the Big Fuse is intact, the ignition lights come on, all electricals work - lights, horn, heater fans, windows, wipers etc etc, but there is no red flashing LED in the cubby hole, so I'm assuming it's an immobilser issue.
I've left a message on Carl Bakers phone, but it is Sunday. Does anyone have any ideas?
Also can someone please confirm the number of, and the locations of all the Earthing points/cables.
1 at the Front of the Chassis. Engine Block and Battery in the n/s wheel arch, 2 cables in the Centre of the car behind the cubby hole (Only 2?) and also 2 cables behind the Petrol tank in the boot. Are theyre any more.

Tried unplugging and plugging back in the immobilisier?

Cures my non Ign- start woes sometimes.

Re earth points: found this any good?



Had the lower part of the Dash off and found the earth bolt behind and to the left of the immobiliser socket under the stereo. There is a bolt welded to a frame attached to the chassis with a nut (its all powder coated and like new), as soon as I saw it I could see the nut was loose and the 3 earths attached to it rattling around.

I've had this twice. Under the power cables at Quarry (castle coombe) and outside the railway museum in Swindon.
Both times I had to use the square immobiliser key in the socket as something was affecting the wireless fob.

When you turn the ignition on, do you get the fuel pump prime when you press the immobilser button on the fob?
Dead battery in the fob?

No Dave, key fob is fine. (This isn't on my car by the way)I spoke to Carl Baker this morning, I explained all the symptoms to him and he immediately said "That's unusual, I've only seen that happen on cars that have been stood for about a year" Guess what, the car has been stood for over a year! He then diagnosed exactly what I would find when I removed the Meta alarm box, a small burn blister on the back and the White multi pin would be stuck...he was right.
He then explained what happens. In brief, the Siren dies, it's connected to the Alarm system, so there is a fault in the Alarm wiring. When the car eventually starts again, the fault jumps down to the alarm box and it burns out. It went a bit over my head with explanations of diodes and transistors, but if you are not going to use your car for a long time, disconnect the alarm/immobiliser plug behind the helmet holder, and also if your siren ever shows signs of dying - it starts to give out lots of strange chirping, and /or goes off at random intervals - then get it replaced pronto or you will get problems later.
Still....it will only cost about £600 to put right
