Silencer Decats

I have had my 4.2 Cerb for a several months, and use it most days. It came with decats and the cats in the boot.
I like the pops and bangs on the overrun, but the extra noise during normal driving is starting to grate a little.
I was thinking of putting the cats back in, but saw that ACT do some silencer decats. Does anybody have experience of these? Do they still give you fun bits, but reduce the normal driving noise?

Get a 'better' exhaust system? Some sports are very very loud. Do you have cone filters? They make it even 'worse'.
