them there doors...?
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Wondered if someone could offer some advice...
Tried to open the passenger door on my '97 4.2 cebera today and the following happened:
1.window didn't drop
2.door was semi released, but not enough to open.
I can lower the window with the window buttons fine, however I can't seem to get the door to open, even with the manual red handle.
Any one got any ideas?
Jimbo.

If the window isn't dropping, it might be becase the sensor in the sill has stopped working.
But, no matter what the electrics are doing, the manual release (red handle) should still work ?
Lower the window a bit, pull on the red handle (I presume it's moving the same about as the drivers handle ?) & give the door a good shove (from the inside)

Loose door catch in the body will cause this. The catch releases but moves with the striker. A bit of gentle persuausion when unlocking should get it to go. When this happened to me I would the window down from inside and then put a hand through to press the button and gently pulled until it released. I then tightened and loctited the lock in place. Alternatively you may need to get access to behind the pillar to hold the lock in place.
