Had a look at the 4.2 (Rosso red) at Philip Phedonos today and being the first test drive I'd had in a Cerb all I can say is .... WOW!! I thought the Supra Twin turbo that we used to have was quick but this thing!! ...
Anyway .. For anyone else that is interested (remembering that I'm obviously no expert on Cerbs) it looks in pretty good nick. The paint is pretty much spot on. The chassis looks pretty good from what I could see/reach and the engine looked clean (no leaks that I could see) and it started/ran pretty nicely once warm. It had a little bit of shunting but not too bad and with brand new shocks/springs the ride was very good (I expected it to be quite jarring but it wasn't)
The only neg comments I could make are that the interior could do with a damn good clean and the aircon needs a new rad so isn't working .. Oh and one of the front speakers is nackered but then who cares!!
He seems like a nice bloke to deal with and it was really good to actually drive an example of the car I've always fancied.

Trouble is I like the look of the yellow one in the PH classifieds (I LOVE yellow!) and I need to make time to see more (they say never buy the first one you look at without looking at others first)I was planning on waiting 'til winter time when I will have more time to look but I got tempted to see what they were like. Probably old news but...
PHILIP PHEDONOS, car salesman: I have my chest hair trimmed and my back waxed once a month. Yeah, it's a bit painful, but I do a lot of weight training and I don't like hair on my body. I don't think men like hairy women, either.

Not sure where you are in Surrey, but you're welcome to join us at the Surrey monthly meet of the TVRCC this Thursday and talk Cerbs. We're at the Black Swan at Ockham this Thursday evening. The big one as you've sussed is chassis condition, apart from that, there was a crank design change in 98 for the 4.2 and there is a difference in the clutch design between the early and later designs which can be expensive to rectify on an early car.

Been well looked after, paint work never polished engine always warmed up etc.
No accident damage, track days or any other form of abuse.
It's a good car and a great runner, lack of service history reflected in the price and any inspection is welcomed.

It's a stunning car though, not just a head turner, but a conversation stopping drool provoking show stopper.

Gary beat me to it with comments on your advert - from the photo's the car looks lovely - but your ad is very short of details on the service history, what monies have been spent on which crucial jobs. However, for the age and the model - the price could be fair (or opening point for negotiation
