Hot starting issue

Hoping someone can help me with a strange issue I'm having.
Car starts if left overnight etc no problem, but if I go for a run in it and stop for lunch etc when I come back to it it tries to turn over once and just dies.
Have tested the battery and alternator and everything is good there

If the coolant temp sender has gone AWOL, your fans will turn on as
soon as you start the car.more than likely your connectors to the fans are
bunged up. Mine had it last week, the plugs sit in the tray below the rad
they collect loads of gunk and water. Open the plugs clean them with contact
cleaner, maybe give them a scratch with a bit of sandpaper and see what happens.
I know it's A fuel problem but if the coing system isn't doing it's job you'll get
starting proems.

Where is this? My temperature is sitting higher than normal when in anything other than 5th gear

Update. Checked the coolant temp sensor and earth straps and they were fine, I changed the battery and no more hot start problems (so far)
Andrew, have done my 1000 mile run in and not used a drop of oil, still got the tapping noise though and jerky acceleration, this may be down to the decats??

Ive had this problem, and put it down to heat soak to the starter motor.
i removed the starter motor and took it apart, to find there is hardly any end float on the motor shaft , so once it gets hot and expands it gets very tight in the case preventing free operation.
i fitted a couple of washes inside the case to give the shaft some extra clearance and put it back together
Then i wrapped the starter in heat proof sliver matting and secured with aluminium tie raps and glue.
my starter motor is still a little slugish when hot but not as a bad as it was, and the car always starts now.
i surgest you try what i did or get another starter motor, before looking at other things

Hmmm... mine just makes a click and a slight nnnngg! sound like it's straining and dash lights dim etc, but it doesn't turn over. This was in the hot weather, maybe the starter motor is on its last legs.
On the Spa trip the hot start sufferers should lead the way! (we always seem to leave a few behind each time we stop

)Mine has developed a pinking/jerking under acceleration when its hot. Car is in for investigation. It seems to be related to hot engine bay temps. I appreciate it's not directly related to your main problem, but when they find the problem I'll let you know, in case your 'jerkiness' is related.
