Hot stalling issue

After a long lay-up (6 months) I drove my car about 300 miles over the weekend and experienced a hot stalling issue that I have not had before.
It was fine in traffic on Saturday but on Sunday (maybe a bit more humid??) after a short spell in traffic the engine died. It would restart but then die again immediately. After a period of time it would be OK but then intermittently it did it all the way home.
When the engine died the ignition light did not come on, there was a little bit of pressure in the fuel tank but not as much as I have had before on a hot day before and it was about 30 miles after filling up with about half a tank of VPower (as usual).
When I hooked it up to the laptop the only fault code displayed was battery voltage. I had just replaced the battery with and EXIDE 069 (same shape as the 072) but had cleared the codes the night before.
Has anyone had similar symptoms? I'm thinking a dodgy earth somewhere affected by the heat maybe but the heat issue sounds like fuel evaporation? Is the main earth the one on the chassis in the passenger side wheelarch? and where does the engine actually earth to the chassis?
I will try to get it to do it with the laptop attached for a bit of fault finding but your thoughts gratefully received!

Hi Ed - Hope all is well.
I'm not sure what could be causing the stalling. But to answer one of your questions, The Engine is located on the Passenger side of the engine block, towards the front near the Oil filter, it connects to the lug on the chassis in the passenger side wheel arch - so you should have 2 earth cables there, one from the battery and the Engine one.
