Hi guys, have had an issue with my 98 4.2 for a little while now, when moving along a certain stretch of road, at shall we say a robust speed, the car tramlines, and I have a bit of a job keeping her on the straight and narrow, I'm no expert but I sometimes think the suspension is perhaps a little too tight, because it doesn't seem to absorb bumps in the road, it can be akin to driving a skateboard. Suspension was only fitted two years ago (Gaz Golds) Got new front discs and pads, tyre pressures are set to 24psi all round. This does not happen when driving my other car ( volvo) over the same stretch of road at similar speeds. Can anybody suggest what could be causing this?
A couple of things that I have been through when experiencing a similar problem:
1) The Cerb has a different tyre width/profile/axle width, so just because your Volvo doesn't do it doesn't mean it is not road related.
2) The car is very alignment sensitive. Have you had it checked recently? I now have mine checked regularly.
3) How old are the various bushes in the suspension/diff?
4) If the car feels too tight under normal use, you should be able to adjust the set up to soften it a turn or two.
