4.5 MPG?

Hi All,

Firstly I didn't buy my Cerb for ecomomy, but was wondering what MPG is a reasonable return on a 4.5?

Just done about 235 miles to 57.8 Litres which is about 19MPG in my book. This consisted of a couple of motorway trips (50 miles total) and mainly 5-10 mile trips out and about.

Not driven the car particularly hard <4k RPM

Thinking about checking the throttles for balancing when I get the right comms lead as the car does feel 'fluffy' in terms of exhaust note in the 2-2.5K rev range.

Any thoughts? About right or not?

I have a 4.2 and I get about 19 mpg on a long run or nearer to 15 mpg when using for short journeys

Typically on a 50 mile daily round trip, 25 miles each way with a cold start at the begining of each, I get about 18 - 20 mpg depending on weather and route.

I did a measured (full tank to full tank) run up to Brum a month or two back, 200+ miles round trip, and made 26 mpg which I thought was pretty damn good.

Day to day about 18mpg, coming back from lemans in the pissing rain got about 25mpg....

The 4.5's are well known for over fueling on the standard map, me thinks this could be a good excuse for a rolling road remap! Speak to jool's

I must admit I am still in the phase of taking the Cerb out on any possible journey rather than using the diesel shopping trolley!

So I guess the cold starts are the culprit!

Steve, I will get the car up to joolz at some point - it's on the list of things to do for the winter!

Managed that in my Range Rover a few times as an average but not my Cerb that does high teens or better on a run.

Best I've had is 27 mpg on an 85 mph 250 mile cruise. We just stopped for fuel, great comfy car. Usual is 18-22 mpg around town with a little motorway and maybe a traffic light gp start

I did a 1700 round trip to the South of France. Motorways, A roads, B roads, , mountain passes, City driveing etc etc. I was a bit Nerdy and recorded all the mileage and petrol used. It was 23.6mpg overall.

I had about 25mpg coming back from Silverstone.

Yeah, me too! My 6.9 actually cracks 20mpg on a run thanks to my new ITBs

Yea heavy footed fun dont bother checking, but long trips even at a good warp speed, high twenties but only after full mapping? Made a huge difference and stopped that petrol smell.

Shush. That's trackdays. A morning at castle Coombe saw me through a tankful. I hadn't thought to look until lunchtime and it had all gone. Luckily the nearest petrol is very close.

Exactly, that's why i'm having short induction and re-map by Jools, purely for the improved fuel econmoy, i didn't realise there were any other benefits

To throw a different way of looking at this, I worked out my Cerb costs £25.00 per hour in fuel when having fun. I need to up my hourly work charge!!!!

On a run from Peterborough last month a got 27mpg. Normal driving I get about 200 miles to a tank, but have seen 330 on one tank!
