hi guys. just a quick hello really and i would like your help! iv been following the forum for about a year now and i feel this is the time to join in! anyway, the reason im am writing this topic is because a friend of mine has a 96 4.2 cerbera, he is selling and i have been wanting one of these dream machines for about 3 years now! he has the clutch updated to newer spec, but i am wondering if there are any other updates that i should check have been done, just so i dont have to fork out for things he might have missed. thanks for the advice.

when i bought mine i was told that clutch and door seals were important. and some work to the motor which had been back to the factory, but what exactly is any ones guess.oh and make sure you`ve got both key fobs. loosing your one and only can be very expensive. believe me!!!!!!

Make sure it's had the upright recall. There should be a sticker on the VIN plate under the bonnet saying "upright recall complete" or something similar. It may have come off, but if you give the factory a call with the details of the car they'll be able to tell you if it's been done or not.

A 96 is before the dodgy uprights were used, so it should be ok.

If it is a 96 and the clutch has been done, possible just the cams need to be checked.
That said there are many original Cerbera's out there still with original cams.
Mine had run on them until about 42,000.

Also, check the footwell and boot carpets for signs / smell of water leakage.

Those really are the main items.

Good luck!

I have a very early 4.2 45k miles or so, mostly with the same bits it was born with.

Super car (even if I am getting new door seals on thursday)
