Bought a cerb last week so I thought I'd just post this up to say thanks for the info, whether you guys knew it or not I've been lurking around the forum for a while using the huge amount of info and expertise on here!
Also like to say that after looking at several cerbs I bought one from Fernhurst, thoroughly impress with their knowledge, enthusiasm and general helpfullness. I was put under no pressure to buy, but once i did they took the time to go through the whole car with a fine toothcomb to make sure I was happy. Probably paid top wack for the year but I did manage to knock a decent amount off the asking price!
Just a quick question if anyone can help, what is the protection of choice for your chassis's? Although mine is solid, whatever has been protecting it before is now flaking off

Yes you will have paid top dollar at Fernies but it'll be worth it, the guys there will look after you perfectly. You did especially well getting the price down too - I don't think I have heard them do that before! I do like their selling technique, no pressure whatsoever - in fact they refused to sell me a car before because it wasn't right for me.

I put mine into Fernhurst last week to have the chassis cleaned up, prepped and waxoyled. It wasn't cheap but I was thoroughly impressed by the service and the job they did. They are friendly and I was particularly impressed by the pleasant and communicative attitude of the mechanics. Truly helpful and interested.
I left it with them for the day, but to be honest I would happily have sat around and waited (ALL DAY) for them to do the work just so I could dribble over all the cars in the showroom!!!!

You have done the right thing by checking out this forum for a while so you are aware of the issues of ownership. There are always going to be some problems but they will be far out-weighed by the enjoyment of owning and driving a Cerbera. I've had mine for a few years now and I can still be seen coffee in hand, staring out the kitchen window at my car. The feeling doesn't go away.

Is it the silver one they had in? Went to see that one a little while back. Looked like a good 'un to me - if it hadn't been silver I'd have been tempted....!Thanks chaps I'm pretty pleased with what I've got sat in my garage now!
Yes it was the silver one, I had my heart set on a silver one, went to see a few and this one just seemed to have been so well looked after and was such a nice one to drive that i had to have it. Plus in the last few thousand miles its had cams done, clutch and 12k service. I'd heard also that they wouldn't budge on price but I thought I'd try anyway and was well pleased to come away with a decent wack of the asking price
I didn't actually like the anthracite wheels from the advert pics but they looked a lot better in the metal.
Yes I agree with what you said about their attitude, it was spot on and I could've spent all day there looking around as well!

I had agreed to £500 for the chassis work. That basically included cleaning up all of the outriggers and rust treating accordingly. Then waxoyling the whole chassis.
Nick phoned me up part way through to tell me that there was some corrosion on the wishbones. It seemed a little overkill to me to worry about them as they are bolt on, whereas the chassis isn't. But I asked him how much to do them. He must have sensed that I wouldn't be inclined to pay much extra as I felt I was already paying a lot. In the end it was all in for £575 inc vat.
Yes, it's a lot. But, to me, the chassis is the single most important part of the car. My car has a good one but still capable of rotting away if neglected. From here I intend to keep the waxoyl repeated regularly until it is all caked in the stuff. They have made a very good job of the work so I am comfortable with the price.
It was also my opportunity to understand Fernhurst's approach to customers, i.e. pricing, quality, extras etc. It will give me a good idea for the future.

Matt, it's funny you say about not initially thinking you wanted anthracite wheels. The car I bought was Viper Blue. It just looked like a mid blue in the advert and I wasn't at all sure that I would think it was anything other than OK as a colour. But when I saw it in the flesh my opinion changed. It looks absolutely stunning to my eye.
I think your car looks great. I like silver and nearly bought an Ice Blue one because it was not too dissimilar to silver. You can be sure that even if you have paid over the odds because of where you got it from, you will have a car that experienced people have looked at and thought was worth putting on the forecourt of a place that has a good reputation. That's got to be worth a few quid.
