Hiya Guys,
Well i've had my first years trouble free motoring from my 1996 Cerbera....
over the Winter i'm thinking of taking its motor out out and repairing the oil leak coming from the front timming cover near the oil pump and also repair the back of the sump where the dip stick goes in...
Clean the motor down and get a few bits and bobs powercoated to lighten it up abit in there...

Does'nt look to bad to get out really... does it come out without the gearbox or can you take the gearbox out with the engine?

The drivers site our rigger is abit rusty on the front... i'm thinking of doing a body lift to fix it..... How high can u lift it with just taking the bolts out???

It has crossed my mind to wether i should just strip it down and do a proper job with it!!!.

Cheers

Jack

This seems to be the best currently available guide in terms of lifting the body.

Regarding the engine removal, it's not a bad lump to remove and will come out with 'box and manifolds in place. Removing the throttle bodies can help give you a little more space. Also, make sure you remove the air con pulley.

Engine removal is pretty straightforward, but you do need a long reach engine crane.
Remove the gear lever.
Disconnect all water hoses that connect to the engine - Water rails, and lower hoses.
Disconnect Main engine oil hose on Driver side, and oil feed to the oil filter.
Disconnect exhaust at CAT's
Remove propshaft.
If it's a 4.2, remove the complete Inlet manifold and fuel rails. If it's a 4.5 just the fuel rail and the back 4 inlet pipes.
Disconnect the throttle cable.
Disconnect all Electrical connections.
Support the engine, then remove front engine mounting plates - about 15 M10 nuts.
Remove lower main engine bracket bolts.
I've probably forgotten a few things, but nothing major.....Then lift it out - it needs to be at a steep angle so the gearbox is pointing downwards.

Body off is a major job, and once it is off you'll find that there is so much more to do than you planned for biggrin. If the outriggers are solid, then just have a dirty weekend cleaning them, de-rust them, POR, and wax underseal them.

engine seems like a weekend of job to get out!!! all sounds good there then!!! When you take the fuel rail off on the 4.2??? does it catch on something... or is it just ease of lifting it out??

drivers side rigger has a hole in it... other one is mint... when i first got it i spent ages under it sorting everything out de rusting and painting...

rest of the drivers side out rigger is fine just the front corner... passenger side looks brand new!!!!
