Managed to locate a spare set of RL7's so now on the hunt for a set
of tyres fit for trackdays.
Want to stick with standard 17" sizes but first choice of Toyo R1R
are not available.
Has anyone any suggestions of make and type, and also can anyone
offer feedback on Toyo 888's or similar on a Cerb.

I'm running 888s this summer. Brilliant tyres on track (in the dry at least). Not the nicest of road tyre if I'm honest

Another vote for 888's here, a friend ran them at the Nurburgring in the rain and said they didn;t perform as badly as expected. It was on an Audi Coupe though.

Yeah, 888's for a year or so now.
Great trackday tyre, last TD at Rockingham generating 1.6g in the
corners, good feel easy to drift, powerslide ect
oh I think it rubbish about wet handling, ok standing water can get you
aquaplaning but you can still have them squealing in the wet.

Richard,

If you have a set of 17" wheels for track use would you have a set of centre caps that you don't really need or may be willing to sell?

I have lost 2 now and would like to replace if possible.

Nick, Interested how you are measuring the G in a corner (V Box) and also what your set up is to achieve 1.6G I would love to get some where near that figure.

Yes v box. I was surprised it was so high, but set up, with the right bits and peices
on the car a Cerb can be pretty usefull on track.

If it was rockingham, that may have been a banked part of the track??

On a flat surface with 1a tyres a Cerb will be around 1G+ when it breaks away, on 1b's (track tyres, R888's and the like) it can be around 1.2G+... doesnt sound like much, but trust me, it is!! A GTR typically sticks to around 1.2G, so yeah - its right up there... add in a touch of camber and the figures can go much higher still, but this is rather variable.

Nickccc, even in the wet your car looks absolutely bloody stunning!! bow

I'm taking the data logging gear to SPA. Plan to log different drivers and compare their
driving styles.
