Positioning of GPS system - idle time again
Discussion
Decided to try and fit my GPS in a more sensible postion for driver use. Due to the engine volume
the audible alert is useless so wanted the unit in eyeline. Didn't want to screw or drill anything.
Made a bracket out of a strip of the alloy that covers the slots on the back of a computer and polished it up.
Bent it so that the end of it can slide between the bottom of the instrument pod and the lower dash (approx 45degree bend). Loosened the wing nut that holds the pod on, lifted it slightly, slid the end of the bracket in then tightened it down again. Hey presto.
The wires could be routed via the instrument pod, but decided to leave them on the surface for the moment. If it is removed in the future the slight indents in the leather should spring back with a bit of massage. Total time 30 minutes. Total cost approx 20p.
