At Spa last weekend, I really noticed the lack of confidence that I had in the Cerb's braking. Something that I have complained about to various indies and been told that everything is fine.
While nosing round other peoples' cars, (and answering my own other thread on pedals), I noticed that I was the only Cerb there with plain vented disks front and rear. I also have seperate bells and disks.
I haven't measured the size of my disks, but the Racing Green parts site only registers this type of disk at 291mm, and that they are unsuitable for 4.5s.
Now I know that TVR fitted all sorts of bits, but were there ever undrilled larger diameter disks? Is it possible that someone replaced the larger disks with mine due to short supply or something?

Standard 4.5 plain discs were 322mm in diameter (bell and rotor and also the later Tuscan S drilled ones). The 4.5 calipers are designed to take up to a 330mm disc. Different pads might be the cheapest way to get what you want from the car.
So there were larger size but plain disks then? That foils my thoughts.I have tried four (I think) different types of pad, including Red and Yellow stuff, and the standard Mintex. None generate the kind of stopping power that everyone talks about, and I certainly am unable to lock up the brakes.
Actually, I think I should see whether I can borrow someone elses car to drive and check out whether it's the nut behind the wheel...

You could have tried mine on Monday if you'd said..... but as my rears lock-up before my fronts I think you may have needed some brown, racing cords
I'm wondering about going down the "Change all the pads" route

Any idea about the last time that you "know" that the oil was fully replaced ?

Was at Spa in the summer and despite melting tread from the tyres and boiling the clutch fluid the brakes were fine if a little noisy at times.
I have later 6600 calipers with 330mm rotors on seperate bells. All discs are genuine AP drilled at the rear, slotted up front. Braided hoses and Ferodo DS2500 pads all round.
I upgraded the fronts to 330 from 291 as I found it all to easy to lock up the rears.
I would agree with new fluid and properly bedded in pads before going any further.
