Selling a Cerb. The mother of all messers!

I couldn't make this up if i tried. But here goes. The cars been up for sale for a couple of weeks now. And as usual you get the various tyre kicking enquiries and people wanting to do a swap. Usually for tat cars.
I did however have an enquiry from a fellow Pistonheader. He was asking all the right questions and i had been open and honest to him.Various phonecalls and mails had flown back and forth and a date was set to view the car. Which was yesterday. He was coming a fair distance so i took him to be a serious contender.
Anyway he arrived at 12.45 yesterday. Done the usual.Made him a cup of tea while he went through the paperwork.He made a couple of phone calls to the indie that has serviced the car over the last couple of years.(He had already done this before previously before coming to view the car).We are now at 1.45 and i still havent taken him out in the car yet.
Anyway,we eventually get out in the car. And on a stretch of road i give it a bit of wellie. To which he asks.How far is the pedal going down during acceleration. I explain to him only a little.More questions follow. The same questions i have already answered before. (I know Cerbera ownership can be a bit daunting for some.But if you are unsure. Then maybe a Cerb is not for you.)And certainly you would have thought this through before making the trip from yorkshire.
Anyway. Back at my place,and a few more questions later, plus a couple of more calls to get insurance quotes,we are now at 3.30. 2 hours and 45 mins after he arrived.He eventually gets a quote. Which is now going to affect his budget. But he goes with it(Why this were'nt put in to place before he came nobody knows).
Stick with me here. He then asks for another ride in the car to feel the acceleration.(To which i oblige) (But i'm getting a little tired of it now).He decides he wants the car. But he needs to do another h.p.i check.(Which also he has done previous) And then its a trip to the bank 2 miles away to withdraw the money(At least he had the foresight to arrange this)On collection of the money,and now heading home. He tells me he has,just phoned his wife/GF(Dont know which is which,as I'm rapidly looseing interest) And she is none too happy on what he has done. But she has said"Its what you want."So have it". Anyway.Back at mine.And another call to arrange cover. And a final call to his wife/GF to make sure its ok on the car to which she agrees.
I then start to write him a reciept.I'm halfway through. When he turns to me and says. I'm going to have to give it a miss. I feel guilty for my wife/GF. And then leaves. We have now reached 5.10. 4 hours 25 mins after he arrived. Coupled with the fact. That his toing and throwing outside the front door to make various phone calls,has resulted in the kids cat going missing.(It probably got f
ked off with his dithering) Had to explain that to the kids last night.
In all the years i have sold cars. I have never come across someone like this.I wasn't going to post this. But the fella has pissed me off so much. I took a day out to see him.And in the end a complete and utter time waster of the highest order.Just a warning to others if they have Cerbs for sale to avoid this fella at all costs.(He has already viewed two already.(Or so he says.)

Wow, that is some serious messing, when i sold mine it was literally 45 mins of check paperwork, check chassis.Drive out, then hand over the cash.
I must confess when i saw the advert for yours i did phone the missus and beg to be allowed to buy it, sadly she doesn't agree with my man maths and thinks borrowing against house equity is not a good idea.
It's a stunner, with what sounds like a good history, i should think you will not have it hanging around too long.

What a timewaster! I have just sold mine to a great block, posted lots on here already and although she still is not sure of him so locks him in or out of it now and then its love at first site? I bought and paid for mine befor I saw it, met at a pub didnt even drive it just had this inane grin on my face and it was love at first site. Plus being a well known PHer I new it would be fine and it was. Same with my buyer came into the yard were she sat gleaming in the sun and even though the windows at the time decided not to go up and down went for a drive a little welly and that was it sold!!!! Take them for a drive first and if they dont say yes when they get out then you know they are wating your time. Well good luck a real man will come for it soon i feel.

Good luck mate, you'll find a decent buyer soon enough. Just learn and move on. Remember any potential buyer who either has to ring his wife/GF or brings them with him (other than to drive the other car home) is a time waster.

Oh dear Markie - that's madness. Well done for keeping calm. From an onlookers point of view, it's very funny - although I have to say, I would love to hear you relate the afternoon in person and see the expressions that go with the words (although I think I can already picture a few ).
Lucky escape for the Cerb too. I don't think someone like that could easily live with the characteristics of a Cerbera.

Shocker. Don't agree with the comment that anyone who appears with wife/gf is a time waster.
My problem was I knew I would buy the first one I saw so got inspection done and all sorted before turning up. GF was as keen as me after viewing and as expected I did buy the first car I actually went to see.
Off out to play with a silver E-type and scooby this weekend so will see if we can get some pics to share.
