Value of a 4.2 AJP?

I am looking at an LS conversion on my Cerbera at the moment, what do used 4.2 AJP's go for?

Its on 38k at the moment, had new cams last year and had been replaced by TVR at about 8k miles.

£2K would be my guess. The prices are all over the place. Someone desparate might pay more rather than pay for a rebuild of their current engine. I dont think a figure of 3 to 4 K is likely IMHO.

Out of interest, how much does the LS conversion cost?

LS is about £7-8k IIRC? Just off the top of my head though so might be wildly out.

What year is the 4.2? If it's a later one with the steel crank then it'll be easier to sell than an early one (I doubt it'll make it much more valuable though).

I'd say 2-3k, don't think I've yet seen an engine go for less than £2k.

Thanks chaps, the £2k mark was what I was thinking of, I'll check the service history to seen when the engine was replaced, it is a '96 car.

I had a chat with Steve from Steve Heath Engineering so far, seems like a top bloke plus the conversions are done over in Kings Lynn, not far from me now.

These are 6.0 units that they use now.

Dont know about Steve's conversions but I would be sure to be given an absolute date for completing the conversion and that all parts are in and ready before you start?

That is a very good point well made mate, I don't want to be left indefinitely! I am going to have a look at where the conversions are being carried out before hand just so I can comfortable before paying a deposit.

I would ask around re whats the experiences of having them done by steve re how long its taken and also what lessons they learnt and what specs etc they would recommend AND how they like the final product?
