It seems I may have excessively worn throttle bodies. Can I get them reconditioned? if so, by who or do i have to buy new? and from where? os is there an upgrade?

Cheers

4.5 - Just bought it with 62000 miles. idle speed too high and reading through the service history I noted a recommendation that bodoes were worn preventing accurate set up.

If there bleeding air round the butterfies, it my be possible to slaken the fixing screws that hold the butterfies in place and adjust them to suite.

but id remove the throttle bodies from the engine before attemping this, and re thread lock the screws once done

I have the same issue. The wear occurs because there are no bearings supporting the spindle and the extra return spring to the air box bracket pulls the spindle sideways rather than rotates them closed. I expect that you could take the bodies off, machine them appropriately and press some needle or taper roller bearings in to support the spindle. I've had replacement bodies fitted once already (quite a long time ago) which helped, but now the problem is back.

I have a couple of sets of GSXR 1000 throttle bodies I'm going to try and do something with if possible. If not, no doubt they'll be good for someone's kit car. I suspect it's going to be a complete git to do and not something that would ever be cost effective to get made in numbers. From the Jenvey FAQ the 42mm throttles used should be good for up to 56bhp each which would be ~450bhp - hopefully they will be a good match for the 400bhp mark. I'm wondering if a cable based system would be a better means to keep them in step rather than the current linkage based approach.
