Exhaust bungs

Almost sounds like blasphemy, but is in essence a way for me to keep the sports pipes as I've decided I do actually really like them and don't want to change to something quieter, but am reluctant to really take the car out and use it as much as I could as a lot of the time I would be leaving the house early on the weekend or arriving quite late.. So I've been looking into universal exhaust bungs but I know from my turbo car days that they are only really advised for very short periods or just pootling around town as can cause excessively high EGTs.

So, just wanting some advice, I've seen these two on ebay (they are advertised as 4-5" but can be custom made to be smaller)

one looks more restrictive than the other (thus more effective at silencing?)

I only really need them for early starts I guess when the car barks from cold and can remove them once I get round the corner, but need to know that they won't cause any problems with starting the car (too much of a restriction?) or any other problems with lamdba/fuelling/egt etc Understandably there will probably be a small power loss, but with them being remoevable this is no cause of concern

I use these from andy race, reduces noise by 10% I think and takes some of the harshness off the decatted sound.

Out of interest, anyone got any pics of the TVR monster silencers? Just hoping they fit in my sports pipes and reduce the noise a little (a lot!)

Have a word with Tim at ACT, he made me up a couple of pairs of tail pipes, one silenced, one unsilenced. 107db vs 101db (all the difference for the track) and they look fantastic too. Measured on track with a Race Technology DL1 datalogger and experienced zero power loss.

How much are the ACT silencers? I think I'm going to try out the MonsterTVR silencers as they still leave the option for easy removal for the times you want a little volume (tunnel runs )

Got an email from Andy a few days ago saying they are 60mm silencers so should fit ok and they should be back in stock in about a week! Hopefully they are quite effective!
