Thunk on lift off?

When I back off the throttle I can 'feel' rather than hear a definate 'thunk' from the rear. Is this likely to be symptom of failing diff bushes? Dont get the feeling on acceleration, just on lift off.

What should I expect to pay to get the bushes replaced? I hear it's a bu**er of a job.

in the process of doing mine now, diff took me about 6 hours to remove plus all the stuff around it, haven't tackled the bushes yet. I had a ZT V8 with the LSD diff and got a cluck which was from the play in the drive train being taken up, the cerbera being a different car, i'm not sure, but my clunk comes from going over bumps, one of the bushes that i have inspected having removed the diff needs replacing and i hope its the cause of my knock.

I had the same, and it was the bushes. I had all the diff bushes done plus a service (6k) main dealer. Was told it was a st of a job. Cost about £1100.

yes diff bush, just had mine done, pig of a job, one bush had disintegrated and all bolts where sized and had to be replaced.

Check it now!
I had a worn diff bush but also the bolts which held the bracket to the diff were loose! One came out, one sheared and the bracket broke!
Horrendous job involved removing the diff, new bracket and new bushes! Check the bolts holding the bracket to the diff are tight!!!!
I haven't had the bill yet!

these are what mine look like at the minute, haven't looked at the top mount bush yet, but either way its coming out.







rain stopped play today so haven't done anything, back to work friday so will press the two bushes out and prep for paint, and make a tool for the top mount bush, Brian at dreadnough told me that the offical TVR way to remove the bush is to hammer it out through the wheel arch, so going to make a nice fitting tool to be able to hit it outside about a metre away so not to hit the car.

Burning the old ones out of the brackets is much easier than pushing them out.

I used an air chisel to knock out the back one on mine and I could do everything from underneath the car (no risk of hitting the rear wing with a sledge hammer ).
