Cerbera failed emissions??

hi all, A mate of mine recently [yesterday] bought a beautiful late silver Cerbera with black interior, stunning. Only problem he took it for MOT today and it failed on emissions as the Lambda readings were apparently sky high. Has anyone any pointers as to why as I'm new to Cerberas and it's his first ever TVR [a long dream come true] Edited by macdeb on Friday 29th October 16:29[/footnote]

Does he know if the cats are still there, I'd hazard they may not be and all but impossible to pass without them. £20k+ for a Cerb with no MOT seems a very odd thing to do however, was it a dealer sale?

Private sale, cats he was told are in. Car came highly recommended and looks like it's been very well looked after.

Most probably needs the throttle balancing and the pots correctly set.

Can he log in here ?
Is it a S6?
Was the car thoroughly warmed up?
Has he physically checked for the CATS?
Where is he based - could try a local TVR specialist for MOT.

He's new to TVR
It's an AJP v8
He intends to come on here
He just joined TVR cc
He was told cats in place
Local to me, Wouldn't send him to local TVR dealer here. [might suggest TVR Power though]
He's actually a friend of my future brother- in- law/long term mate. Just trying to help the guy a bit and not see him spunk money away.

If its high lambdas but the HC and CO are reasonable then he should check the exhausts for air leaks, possibly a bad joint or a cracked manifold.

i had this with my cerb until i took it to a tvr specialist. does he know there is a different catorgary for tvr's due to the low numbers made?

No, the Cerb has special dispensation for emissions and I believe they should get measure at the older, less stringent levels no matter what the age.

Do you need to fit cats to pass the less stringent test?

Almost certainly, unless you are very friendly with your MOT tester.
