Wheel size for competition

I'm intending to sprint my Cerb next year. I am trying to decide whether the track tyres should go on 16 or 17 inch rims. I suspect that 16 in with a higher profile will be more progressive than 17 inch and a lower profile. Is there any consensus or advice.

Id go for 17s , not because of the tyres. but if you decide to upgrade the brakes. 16s wont fit over the larger disks

I changed to 16" rims (from 18" spiders) for sprinting last season and really like the handling on the smaller rim - particularly with R888s! Much more progressive when it does break away and a good deal easier to catch. Its also a vastly more pleasant ride driving to and from sprints.

I have upgraded the front brakes to 330mm disks and 6 bolt callipers off a 4.5 and they fit fine under the Oz Saturn 16" but there wouldn't be much room for anything bigger. To be honest though, braking capacity won't be the limiting factor sprinting a Cerb!
