Graph from the emerald session recntly with a std 4.2 cerbera, high compression early cam spec.
torque gains 10-15lbs, once again shows that TVR work hard to get the peak figures but lose everywhere else.

Hmm, the torque is interesting when compared to our '97 4.2, in that it's 10 lb lower at peak, but has a broader niveau.

The torque/bhp gains at 3500 and 5000 look excellent. Hope this is what we get with the Austec system, too

Well, I'm guessing since he says Emerald, that's it's a new map on the new ECU vs the standard TVR map on the MBE. Looks good! Interested in seeing a standard 4.5 now...

Sean .. don't be mislead by teh figures, it's the increase you're looking for .. the emerald rolers read about 10% lower than the noble rollers i use, this would have been a 360bhp car on the noble rollers, but the % gain wuld be directly comparable to your car .. take your figures, add the gain and that's what you're looking at ..

Joolz - My 4.5RR is going on Nobles rolling road next Thursday around lunchtime. It'll be interesting to see the fuel trace on that and see if there is any latent potential in the beast that Austec can release! Also be interesting to see how it compares to Danny's car as that's the only other Cerbie RR I know of that's been on that 'road.

I've heard a lot said about your throttle linkage/pots mod. My car runs rough as a dog around town despite only just being serviced but is sweet as a nut on the open road. When I first had the car it was smooth as silk. Not sure why it isn't now. My local specialist is taking a look at it next Wednesday just to make sure everythings is in synch ready for the session at Nobles but beyond that I'm a bit lost as to how to get the smoothness back.

Joolz - didn't Julian have a modified airbox etc on his car? Still if I get close to 428bhp I'll be well happy. Hoping for over 410bhp and 380lbft torque. All will be revealed in a weeks time!

Indeed I'm waiting for a reponse from Joolz. I've only heard it on the PH grapevine and was looking for some clarification.

It's a 'Joolz special' that is designed to overcome fluctuating throttle pot readings, which will hopefully reduce the frequency that throttle pots need changing.
I'm told it has made a bit difference to all of the cars that it has been tried on, except one (and no points for guessing whose that was).
I'm sure Joolz will be able to elaborate (or failing that, get your car booked in with him - it's not an expensive mod).

there's a mod to reduce the accelerator pedal pressure, and reduce the throttle pot spiking, but as DJ said, i found a car it didn't wrk at all on .. buger .. so not a guaranteed fix then.
if everything else checks out tho and it still has rough low rev manners it's time to check those valve clearances .. chances are their' closing up on the inlets..

Joolz - thats interesting as my throttle is really stiff too. Could the inlets be closing up after only 5,500 miles though?

What's your lead time like at the moment? I can feel a visit to the master for a little fettle coming on!!

Perhaps I read that wrong, but from what I understood:

If a car is difficult around town it could be down to 3 things:

1) Throttle Pot Sensor causing erratic input to the ECU
2) A difficult to push accelerator causing you to give it too much gas
3) Incorrect gaps

1) is fixed by Joolz's mod or a new throttle pot
2) is fixed by a different Joolz mod (throttle return spring??)
3) Is fixed by adjusting the value clearances

From what I understand, it's unlikely to be 3), and the stiff throttle is just a Cerbera trait and does not relate to 1) and 3).
