I want a TVR Cerbera, But cant find one!

Hi,
I've been looking to buy a cerbera for a while now but no one seems to be selling them. I check the usual ,pistonheads classifieds ,autotrader and ebay but am i missing some sites out? maybe an owners club? i'm after a 4.5 in a not too lairy colour , as late model as i can afford but most importantly a good solid car.
So does anyone know where theres a secret stash of cerbera's for sale because i neeeed one!!!!

I know were theres a 53 plate 4.2 at a steal in rasberry, it will have a 4.5 bottem end but 4.2 induction. id be very tempted myself but its got 58k on the clock. thats way to high for my liking

Actually there a 5 4.5's listed, the latest was added around 3 weeks ago so the pickings are slim. I just wondered if there was a popular owners club or simular that someone may know of? i havent owned a tvr before so i'm a bit in the dark on places to look.

Thanks Gray, thats does sound good i'm just not to sure on the rasberry, i like the look a grey, blue or black unless theres a colour i havent seen yet that takes my fancy!

There are normally fewer cars listed at this time of year so it will be a waiting game unfortunately. There should be more available around Spring time.

PH is your best bet though. One that's been owned by an enthusiast. Good luck with the search.

Don't be afraid of high mileage ones. If they've had the money spent on them they can be a far better choice than a 20K mile garage queen. My nigh on 70K mile 4.5 is significantly better in terms of chassis and mechanics than a number of low mileage ones I've seen, not to mention the lack of wet dog smell as a couple of previous owners used it as a daily and as such didn't put up with water ingress added to the fact it got up to temp every day which helped keep things aired!

i have a cerb and would love another,
but 30k and only 2000 miles i would be to afraid of it going wrong ,
your better of with a 12>15K car with history than a car with none ,
if its got the papers to say whats been done and the owner knows the car inside out then thats a nuff for me .

There's a nice Rosso Pearl one at Track v Road but it's an early 4.2. 45k on the clock. Been cared for like a baby. I've never seen a cleaner engine bay! Thinks it's around 14k

I'd say forget mileage, it means nothing if a car has been properly looked after.

Also if you buy a Cerbera that has been used more often than not it's probably means its a good one and hasn't spent months in the garage being repaired.

I bought mine with above average miles on the clock purley because it was the best i had seen and made all the 30k cars I saw for sale look like they's done 130k

Mileage really isn't an issue I would much rather have a car with 58k on the clock like mine does which is driven alot and looked after well which mine is than a car with 21k on the clock that only comes out when the weathers nice. The Cerb is a great car and in my experience seems to go wrong alot less when used every day and not just brought out in the summer to do 600 miles and then put away again.

Tom, I wouldn't get to worried about 4.2 or 4.5 versions.

Later cars were believed to be all 4.5 just with a different induction system on them and a lot of the chaps who race these things go with that combination.

I would go for condition every time, mileage is not a huge probelm either, there are people on here with 100K+ miles on a V8 Cerb with out problems.

As already said, later 4.2 model were built with a 4.5 bottom end. Mine was and it's for sale. If you want to take a look it's advertised by bespoke performance aka the tvr centre of old. It's the 2003 crystal topaz model.

Thanks alot for all your help and advice. i've never been to bothered with mileage on my cars and as alot of you have said condition is most important, the chassis rusting is something that does scare me!
I'd like to spend around 15k but if something special came up for a bit more i'd be willing to get into some debt for it!! What year were the later seats introduced? and i'll remember that about the later 4.2's being 4.5's, what years roughly does this apply?
I will get one between now and spring time but i suppose its the waiting game for now. please let me know of any cerberas you know of coming up for sale.
