Seen this car several times, but never got the reg, so never bother posting.

Very Dark purple Cerb (reg : P953 ***) spotted last night on the A21 between Sevenoaks & Tonbridge at approx 17:50

(I was in the black Mk1 Golf (with red wheels) limping along in the inside lane (jammed in 3rd gear ! ))

Sorry to jump on the thread, but hows tricks Olly? Is your Cerb back on the road or still in storage?

Byff, tricks not too bad thanks..... The car is actually being broken out of moth balls over the next few weeks ! Having recovered from redundancy & now got some money back in the bank (and hopefully about to move house), we've got the car booked into Walldonway mid May for a major service, new carpets (car had water damage to driver side carpets when we bought it) & an MOT. So we'll then have a few weeks to get used to it again (it's been too long) before we thrash down to Le Mans !

I'm like a school boy whose Christmas has come early at the moment !

Glad to hear your looking ship-shape again.

It was your posts that inspired me to get my Cerb many moons ago, then your video of driving thru a tunnel, popping and banging, that made me teach myself how to use video editing and make my own webpage to host the clips.

So it's nice to know you'll soon be back behind the wheel.

Amazing....half way thru the tunnel, you overtake another Cerb! What were the chances of that happening.
I love the Dartford Tunnel...

Well, what you can't see is the other 4 Cerbs & a Chimaera behind us !

It was taken on the way to Duxford (2002) www.tvr-cerbera.fsnet.co.uk/duxford.htm

Was the video taken in James's 4.2?

My 4.5 would pop like that, but my 4.2 wont. I thought it must be the engine/cam arrangement, so that'll rule out the engine size at least. Only clatter/whisper cam differences left.

Same for me.

My original 4.2 96 would pop and with sports exhaust and decat, sounded nice,
but the 4.5 with just sports pipes, sounds like a war going on - popping and
banging for England!

Was indeed ! (how do you know it's James's car ??????)

Our car pops & bangs like that too. All you need to do to a 4.2 to get it to pop & bang is fit a sports exhaust. If that doesn't work, then a de-cat certainly will liven things up a bit !

My 96 4.2 with sports exhaust pops and bangs for blighty. Like anything Cerbera, individual cars will be completely different even if they were built on the same day.

Noticed it was a red Cerb and yours is Green. Quick look on the Ratpac website and only reb Cerb with red dash top is James's.

I should be a detective

Mine is a 4.2 with sports exhausts, I think with clatter cams (but not certain) and going in for a de-cat on Monday. At the moment, it only pops when coming back down from high revs. I get three pops at 3k revs then nowt else.

3k revs is the magic figure for mine - it gives you another punch in the back and takes off like a scalded cat.

Talk about a thread hi-jack

Well done Detective Byff....

From memory (and it's been a while, so I might be wrong ) ours starts poping like that if you life off at about 3300rpm (once warm), and carries on doing so until you get to about 2200rpm. Does it even LOUDER the warmer the car is.... (and it ALWAYS sounds better nice and early on a cold spring/autumn morning)

Mine has had the cams replaced, letting off from high revs it will pop constanly down to about 3000rpm. Letting off at 4000-4500rpm for example, will yield a good dozen pops and bangs on it's way down.
