Boot light switch

I've removed the boot light switch (I assume that's what it's for) as the 'plunger' has jammed (the springs inside were rusted away and the contacts dirty).

Attached to the lead that goes it, is another connector that has no obvious place to go - it is a female two pin (circular ones) with a purple/green and a black wire running from it.

Any ideas what it's for?

Theres a boot light switch?! lol where? I just assumed my boot light doesn't work after I replaced it and it still didnt light up

If it is the boot light switch (It might not be!) it is windscreen side of the left hand hinge...

Does anyone know where to get a new bootlight ? Mine works but it falls out the hole because the tabs are broken.

Mine has the tabs and still falls out! Will probably wedge or glue it in if I get it working/find the elusive switch lol.

will look out for it next time i'm in the boot! ..

The switch is off a Rover (door or boot courtesy switch) - I just bought new one for £5 off ebay , but there's plenty of secondhand ones for less. Part number is YUE100570.

Finally got my bootlight working!

Got a new switch on ebay and the guys at Power fitted, some playing with the dirty old wires and hey presto my bootlight is back!
