Door/window/interior lights issue

Seems I have some sort of problem with the car getting itself all confused over what is meant to happen and when.

Sometimes works perfectly, press the buton, the window drops the door opens, shut the door, the window goes up. Simples.

1. Sometimes though you press the button and the door pops without the window going down
2. Sometimes you press the button and the window goes down the door opens and the window goes us while the door is still open.
3. Sometimes the interior lights don't go off when you shut the door (but I know that's the reed switch I need to look at)
4. Today I opened the door, the lights came on and when the door was open they went off (suspect fixing item above will fix this too)

Any ideas on the confused window/door situation though in 1 and 2 above? What does seem to fix it is if I lock the car and wait for the alarm to set then unlock again, but that's only temporary. Some sort of reset on the locking system?

have you tried dis connecting the window control box in the boot above the fuel tank. give that a go

The reed switch in the bottom of the door and possibly the window position microswitch inside the door need replacing. That will cure all of those symptoms.

Top tip thanks. Where would I find the window position switch? Too much to ask for it to pop out with the reed switch I suppose?

The window position switch is inside the door. You have to take the door card off - a bunch of countersunk socket head screws round the edge - and you will see it on the front edge of the door under the glass.

Its a standard microswitch, though as often as not the problem is corrosion in the wiring connectors inside the door. I have systematically replaced all the terminal blocks with AMP Superseal waterproof connectors and have no more problems.
