Recommendations? I need to have a 2nd car to the Cerb (for obvious reasons), picked up a cheap 328i BMW. Currently with Tesco, they are offering me 0 years no claims for my 2nd car and only want to sell me a year... Then have the cheek after 15 mins to tell me they cant insure me on that car! Typical.

Anyone recommend where they get their insurance for more than 1 car at a great price? Sorry if this thread has come up before... I'm just sitting here hacked off and too annoyed for a search furious

Thanks guys

Who is the Cerbera with? Would they match your NCB if you took a policy with them?

I'm with Tesco. Yes they sell bread as well, so I know I shouldn't expect much... :/

I found it cheaper to have the cerb as a second car on a classic car policy and insure my other runaround on a seperate policy. 4.5 cerb 5000 miles per year and guarenteed value of £18k cost £279

Try A Plan Insurance, they mirror the NCB (full) off my main car onto my second car.

With just a 'generic' car like the BMW you're best bet is probably going to be one of the more mainstream providers. Try price comparison sites like confused.com, GoCompare. Also try Admiral, Adrian Flux, Footman James and Performance Direct.

I was semi-lucky that my everyday car is an MX5 so I could go to one of the more specialist insurers (A-plan in the end) and get a quote as good as the TVR with the great customer service that is usually more prevalent with specialists.

Both policies for me are under £500 (separately), which isn't bad for me at 25 with 6 years driving and 5 years NCB and one SP30 two years ago.

As above, consider a classic policy for the cerb. I found Classic Line cheapest last year.

This is exactly what i do. All the cars are on their own policy's with different insurers, works out cheaper for me this way.

swift cover are the cheapest for me. The will mirror your no claims on both cars if you insure both cars with them.

If you only want third party cover on the BMW you may be covered on the Cerb policy as sometimes it entitles you to drive another car with third part cover BUT you must not be the owner so stick the beamer in someone elses name and you may be able to drive it for free on the Cerb policy.

read a thread I put on general gassing a few weeks ago regarding exactly this subject as there are some interesting answers to this question from people in the know.

The other car must still be insured in someone's name (ie the car must be on an insurance policy somewhere).

Thats what I thought as well, but after watching a police TV programe I wondered if this was in fact correct so I posted a thread on general gassing about this exact point. Have a read and see what you make of it, but it would appear that YOU are insured and not the vehicle so that if you policy states you are insured to drive another car third party then the other vehicle does not need its own insurance as your policy covers you whilst you are driving.

Don't do this!

The vehicle is insured whilst you are driving it. However, as soon as you are no longer driving - ie the car is parked, it is no longer insured and you commit an offence. Currently Police in my area are seizing uninsured vehicles at a very reassuring rate. Costs are 200 for a fixed penalty notice, 300 for the cost of removal and 50 per day to cover storage until you cab show that the vehicle is insured. They will not release vehicles with a 3rd party extension or s traders policy.

Admiral multi car was way cheaper than separate. I have 3 cars for the same price as other Cerb only quotes, even from specialists. Cerb is my main car and unlimited mileage.

DOC (Driving Other Cars) extension does not apply to cars that you own.
