As you are a Garage Owner specialising in Engine transplants, can't you figure it out for yourself? Or are you just sneakily trying to find out what the competition are charging I wonder.......

saw the thread title and last poster...thought to meself...this will be interesting

how's life Al mate...all well in jensenville?

Yes, yes i could but the time it takes to convert a vehicle, and the many lessons learned from doing a few swaps i would put a fair old monetary value on.
I would quite happily take the swap on myself if there was an installation kit available and details of exactly which engine/box/flywheel to use? Not to mention ancillaries, pipework, clutch pipes and so on.
Fabrication/welding, loom wiring, painting, engine prep, parts sourcing etc are the most time intensive parts of my job. The spannering is the easy bit.
If it's a case of buying the engine and box and then fabricating everything to fit, engine in and out several times, lining things up, re-measuring them, trying out lots of different parts combinations to get the best fit etc etc etc then that takes a lot of time.
If it's £5k parts and £2k off the shelf, bolt in, installation kit, i'll do it myself.
If someone wants to charge me £10k and do it all for me, i would value that as worth while as it would probably mean 3-4weeks off work for me.
I like my projects and i know my business, that means i also value other people's too.
Olber,
Are you aware that S6 Cerbs also have a 'toned' down suspension, smaller tyre size and a few other minor differences to the AJP8's? they were a more sedate set-up that was a less 'in your face' touring option.
By the time you've matched the rest of the cars set-up to the 'crated' septic option you'd have spent more hard earned than first considered and could have bought the real thing....a sorted AJP as God intended.
All IMHO
except the God bit...

I thought that shpub was the main one in the TVR world with a drive in/out service at about £8K. Some discussion here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Tend to agree with Alan though....this is either
A. A wind-up
B. A fishing exercise
or
C. Both

Need to know what one of these would cost me, that's the only reason.

IIRC steve was quoting 2/3 of those figures.
LS3.Steve was quoting 7.5k for an LS2, but with the tax increase and the extra cost of an LS3, it's nearer if not north of 10.

You cant catch me out that easily JR!

Actually it's not an LS2 but a Holden L98 - LS2 block with LS3 heads, injectors and induction. LS3 power but a lot less money.
OK, BCA you can have that one on a technicality. OP asked for LSx & I had missed your subtlety that you were quoting for an LS3 not LS2/98etc that Steve offers for the lower price. I'm off for a beer.Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
