What size tyres for my new spiders

Having taken delivery of my 18" spiders, tyres are the next thing on the agenda. Have decided to go with Falkens, but should I go for 40 profile rather than 35, I was hoping this might give a better ride. Anybody got experience of these? Also which profile would be nearer to the rolling diameter of the 16" estoriles I have on at the moment?
Any feedback would be gladly appreciated, cheers, Steve.

Try this site - don't forget to fit some 'wheel lock' spacers or you'll be scraping the tyres all the time.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that the following are the correct sizes for the different diameter rims -

16" - 225/45-16 front and 245/45-16 rear

17" - 225/40-17 front and 245/40-117 rear

18" - 225/35-18 front and 245/35-18 rear

17 & 18 inch find both take 255 width iirc. I'd stick to 35 profile. The biggest impact on the ride will be the weight of the Spiders. Adding a higher profile turrets will just exaggerate that further.

I would stick with 35 Steve as if you go up to 40 it will have a knock on effect on your ride height. The falkens dont look as stretched as the toyos at that size either.

I have 245x40 18's on the rear 235x40 18's front,ride is excellent without issue.

Some confusing advice there!! 255 35 and 225 35 is the norm. Be very careful straying frim this!

As Gazzab says standard size tyres on 18" spiders for a Cerb are

225/35 - Front
255/35 - Rear

I've used these guys for ages now and have found them unbeatable in the price dept, cheap next day delivery too.

255/35-18 rear, i have just put Pirelli P Zero's on mine, same as used in Time attack this year, i also put 225/40-18 on the front same again. I would have gone 225/35-18 given the choice but they did not have it. You can put 265/35-18 on the the back, i had this size with no issues with the relatively narrow spiders, i am on a 10" rear rim now and this limits me to 255.

I am probably teaching my Granny to suck eggs here but just make sure that the appropriately sized tyres go on the correctly offset rims.

I changed to fronts 225/40 and rears 255/35, it is better to drive than with the 35s on the front and there are no issues with mine. I understand some can require some form of steering spacer as they may foul if you go this route but it's not an expensive job.

I really didnt like the falkens, my car is a heavy 500bhp V8 rear wheel drive, just put Proxys on and even though they are new they are 10 times better...

Right, the rears will be 255/35's then! As for the fronts, I've managed to pick up a pair of 225's at a very good price from a fellow p/h'er
All going to plan then, so far.

Yes they should be but they might not be. Check you have 'fronts' all round.
