Wondered why the S6 started running lumpy, took it for a run was much better. Dropped off a couple days later to The Garage, on inital start up seemed like a misfire... After Dave had inspected closer..... Crankshaft has snapped! 
Holy buggering goodness, that would have been tasty if it let go on the road. How it didnt is anyones guess maybe? Looks like it's gonna cost a few quid too. Anyone else had something similar happen so I know what to expect - but better still... What cool stuff should I do as its all apart?

Yeah this was what I thought of, I do like the speed 6 engine though, and I would have to get the ecu and all, I just think a repiar or at worst a new s6 engine would be the cheapest way to fix - especially as I was looking to sell it anyway. I guess this now is an excuse to have for another year and enjoy Just a thought.

Interesting scenario - if you were thinking about selling then the best value option might be to sell the car as is?
I guess the other options include
-> 2nd hand engine (often leads to more trouble)
-> Rebuild to standard 4ltr
-> Rebuild to upgraded 4.3/4.5 standard (starts to get pricey)
-> LS2/3
I suspect that the cheapest option above is still going to cost nearly £4K all in. The more expensive options could knock on the door of £10K?
The best value for money is probably to sell it as it is?

Interesting, I had not thought of selling as is. What kind of money do you think it would fetch? 43k, 2000 plate, reflex purple, total full service history etc? I guess the other options include

If the car is worth, for example, £13K with engine in good order and it costs you £8K to repair it then so long as you get more than £5K then you are better off.
I suspect that you might get £8K for it with a broken engine (bearing in mind what the breakers want for their stock) and then even looking at your cheapest repair option (which is also the riskiest approach to fixing it) it becomes marginal but at least less financially risky to sell as is?

Tom at Bell Hill has sp6 engines for 1500 pounds on ebay*. Offer him 1200 cash (he'll have to pay about 120 pounds final value fee through ebay anyway) and fit it yourself with a couple of friendly helpers over a couple of weekends? job done
- not sure if any 4 litres left though, might all be 3.6, but call him anyway.
Yeah the only guy ever to fit it will be the guy its with, so it needs to come apart first. Bell Hill is an idea, Ill see if I need an engine first I guess.
Even though Im dying from the wallet out, I cant help being hopeful that this is an oppotunity to make it faster! Is this normal behaviour or am I just a true TVR loving petrol head?
