127 hours - stuck half way through alternator change - help

I am trying to change the alterator on a 2000 4.5 lwt cerb and im stuck can anyone advise please

in order to get to the alternator i am trying to take the fuel rail, injectors and intake manifolds off in one go to reveal the alternator

I have

removed air boxes
disconnected throttle
unpluged injectors
unpluged throttle pots

i need to disconnect the fuel feeds , no problem

reading Tanguero's recent excellent thread i now need to

a) 'undo the hex cap bolts through the manifild to the rocker covers'

b) 'undo the hex cap bolts that hold the manifold the manifold and heat barrier to the cylinder heads'

(fuel rail and both manifilds should now lift off in one piece)

any help in identfying the bolts in a) and the bolts in b) would be apprecaited .

I think i can see the bolts in b) but it looks like i need a flexible extension allen key to get to them , the ones in a) are a mystery to me since the intake manifolds dont sit on top of the rocker covers they sit above the engine parralel to the rocker covers

any help at all preferably with any pictures would be really appreciated

No matter how bad it get dont hack your arm off with a cheap leatherman

Unless you get it stuck in the engine bay for 127hour and have to drink from the radiator.

When I did mine all I did was take the fuel rail & aircon pump (if you have it) off. Didn't take the manifolds off.

Mine is a 4.2 not a 4.5... this might account for some differences!
