How About These For Track Day Wheels

I am thinking about a set of Track Day wheels for my cerb, these are on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am... would they be suitable?
Any idea what they are?

The wheels are Raceline RL7 which were original fitment to 4.5 Cerb before Spiders were introduced (18" were also available IIRC) a good looking wheel and i'd be suprised if they were'nt a lot stronger than spiders and hence more suitable for track days.
The Toyo Proxes T1-R whilst not being as focused as Toyo R888 should still be useful on track days.
In fact,if the wheels would have fitted my Chim, i'd have thrown a bid in myself .

Yes, mine are 18", I'm told but not convinced there was a problem with them cracking on the insides, if you can give them a thorough look over.

Price seems ok so long they are near £250 starting bid. 2nd hand tyres on a track though, bin the tyres and get some new rubber...?

Ive got a set of those with slicks on for the track. Big improvement over spiders.If you can get 17s for the front and 18s for the rear that will help even more.

18's on the back give you loads more options, 17's on the front behave better. HTH

I had a set of 17' RL-7 on my Chimaera, drove really well with R888's, was surprised how much they made when I sold them on (£1425.00) was told they where had to come by (4 stud)

Very common and it's only the edge of the rim that goes. Had it happen on both of mine. I cracked one round the 'Ring and drove all the way home on it!

However, it's due to TVR spec'ing a silly profile for the fronts to get them too fit. The tyres are just too thin.

It's not an issue, easily weld-able and is NOTHING compared to what BMW M3 owners suffered from. Search google for M3 and welded wheels..... THAT is frightening!!!!

Isn't the cracking issue only associated with the 18" RLs? I didn't think 17" RLs suffered the same problems due to the slightly larger profile.

Yes, I believe it is only the 18", mine have been thoroughly checked but I do keep an eye one them too.

Thanks for all your advise chaps, I won these wheels & tyres today for £250 so should have them in plenty of time for my next visit to Bedford Autodrome on the 19th.

I may also have a set of 888's lined up.
