I am sad today.

I have been trying to sort out my headlight problem for a while now
but to no avail.

The problem is that I have no headlights on dipped beam.
I have had the steering wheel off and all the connections are good and working. The side/head light switch is fine. I have changed the light switching unit in the boot. I have checked the relays in the dim/dip unit and all the wire connections including the spades. All is good.
So what next? I am pulling what little hair I have out.
Is there a way of getting a separate feed down to the headlights and which of the three wires on the headlight bulb is the live feed?

Could be related, might not be, but it may help give you an avenue to investigate ...

I installed HIDs a few months ago (big round old style headlamps) and now have the issue where the dip beam comes on with the sidelights when you turn the headlamp switch both one click or two. The age old fix is to snip the good old red and black wire on the dim dip box in the boot, however if I do this it prevents the dipped beam coming on at all, whereas for others they still get dipped beam on the 'second click' if that makes sense?

I've just learnt to live with it, though I can imagine your reversed scenario is a little harder to live with!!

You will chuckle but they were about the third thing
I looked at. I was so frustrated that I put the in
my rover to check them.

I phoned a local auto electrician and he said " If you can get hold of a diagram
of the loom then I'll have a look. I don't know anything about TVRs but it will be
£60 an hour"...............bless him

Its worth checking the ribbon cable that goes from the switch. They are quite fragile and a break in it would be difficult to spot. I had a similar problem with high beams I think which turned out to be the ribbon cable in the steering wheel.

Have you got a mutl-meter? Easiest and quickest way.

I had the same problem, it was a burned out wire going to the dim dip box. wired straight into box and problem solved.
The cause?
Previous owner had put in 80W/100W bulbs instead of the standard 55W/60W ones. The wiring could not take the extra current!

I am having awful electrical problems at the moment (worse than a headlight!) and will need to get some re-wiring done.
